Thandwe ("Thandway" in Arakanese)(Burmese: သံတွဲမြို့; MLCTS: samtwai: mrui. [θàɴdwɛ́ mjo̰]; formerly Sandoway) is a town and major seaport in Rakhine State, the westernmost part of Myanmar. Thandwe is very ancient, and is said to have been at one time the capital of Rakhine State, then called Arakan. The district has an area of 3,784 square miles (9,800 km). The country is mountainous, the Arakan Mountains sending out spurs which reach the coast. Some of the peaks in the north attain 4,000 and more ft. The streams are only mountain torrents to within a few miles of the coast; the mouth of the Khwa forms a good anchorage for vessels of from 9 to 10 ft (3.0 m). draught. The rocks in the Arakan Range and its spurs are metamorphic, and comprise clay, slates, ironstone and indurated sandstone; towards the south, ironstone, trap and rocks of basaltic character are common; veins of steatite and white fibrous quartz are also found. Between 1961 and 1990, the mean annual rainfall was 5,323 millimetres (209.6 in). Except a few acres of tobacco, all the cultivation is rice.

Petit restaurant qui se situe face à un grand hotel très facile à trouver ( Amata resort. Ngapali Beach )
Being across the road from the Amata Resort this family restaurant is popular. The fact that people go more than once is a testament to its quality as there are plenty of choices nearby. Good varied menu, reasonable prices and you can also hire bikes etc. Good family business.

Chosen only because it seemed very cosy, almost hidden beyond a little bridge and some plants covering the dining Terrace, it then turned into a great surprise!
We enjoyed tasty sea food & prawn curry with rice, delicious mango and tea leaves salads, and squid-sticks with ginger and garlic.
Wines and beers are cold, and it is not so obvious as many restaurants do not refrigerate beverages.
Team and manager are very helpful and kind and they always try to accomplish your requests.
Highly suggested!

Really friendly service and good food.We reserved a table and ate early on each occasion.Towards the end of our holiday (mid Jan)the resort became very quiet and a reservation was not necessary as there were only a few tables occupied.
Our menu choice varied but we always started with avocado salad with a lime and nut dressing but our mains varied from sweet & sour fish or chicken, grilled barracuda/white tuna or red snapper-always beautifully cooked and presented.
On our last night, just wanting one course, we had fish & chips-lovely.
She serves wine by the glass for kyat5000 a full fresh chilled large glass.
Our bill for 2,including starter, main.drinks and complimentary fruit platter dessert was between K17000 and k25000 ($12 to $18)---say no more

Pleasant View Islet (PVI), is an idyllic getaway paradise at beautiful Ngapali Beach. The perfect setting for a quiet drink to cool off in the mid-day heat or soak in sunset views in the peaceful Bay of Bengal.
The view is great. The food was terrible. The shrimp came out dangerously undercooked and after it was sent back to be cooked longer, it was still partially raw. All of the vegetable dishes are cooked in a strong fish sauce (which isn't mentioned on the menu). One of the drinks we ordered wasn't delivered. The other drinks tasted good. If you go, set low expectations and stick to only drinks.

There was an excellent restaurant about a ten minute bicycle ride away from our Merciel hotel resort that we loved called Sea Queen that was so great for dinner the first night we ended up having dinner there every night. It’s run by a super cute family including mother with her son and daughter who all have such friendly and funny personalities. It’s ranked with best reviews in the city so for dinner it’s always full so making a reservation is a good idea. All the food was excellent and highly recommended although the cocktails could use some work so stick to wine or beer.

It is best to book in high season and to arrive before 7pm as it so popular and so convenient for Aureum and Jade Marina. They will be even busier when the opposite Pristine Mermaid opens up fully for clients.
Good English and a comprehensive wine and drinks list.
We ate twice this time and both times started with a delicious avocado and tomato salad in fresh sweet lime. For mains we tried grilled barracuda, grilled marlin(texture of tuna) and white tuna. Not big rice eaters we had a shared plate of yummy french fries one night to go with sweet & sour fish.
Wine by the glass is K5000.
No complimentary desserts here but the fried honeyed banana is well worth K1500
Our average bill for two for dinner was a few thousand kyat more than Ngapali Kitchen at K27500 ($20) but still great value.
On our return list

As Ocean Pearl is opposite our hotel we went there for our first meal in Ngapali- we were not disappointed!
The seafood Tempura was excellent, the veg curry very tasty and the prawn Thai dish also nice.
Free dessert was as nice for those like me with a sweet tooth- banana and honey with coconut cake.
Service was very attentive.
If you are a G&T fan wait till back at your hotel.
Lovely meal

The restaurant is run by the whole family. We chose a fish curry with coconut milk ( recommended as the best ) an octopus curry a veggie curry and some greenery.
All were delicious, served piping hot and amazingly enough for Myanmar, all at the same time.
They serve the coldest beers in Ngapali beach and most probably the coldest in the whole of Myanmar.
Good food, good service, good price and nice people Not sure what more you need
Opposite Htay Htay so easy to find
Very nice decor as well
