Let's face it - Cerveceria Petermann doesn't exactly have a lot of competition in this neck of the woods. One would have to drive as far as Villarica to find a restaurant of similar quality. As the name suggests, the main attraction here is the beer and there are 4 on offer. They are all quite good and it's unfortunate that they are virtually impossible to find elsewhere in Chile.
The menu is short and mainly features very expensive pizzas. If you experience sticker shock, well, good luck finding a comparable alternative within a half-day drive. But the pizza is good, if not exceptional. One will be tempted by the pizza with jabali (wild boar) and ciervo (deer) until one learns that you must get the family size (22,000 CLP) to get this one. I challenge you to find a more expensive pizza in South America.
As with all the buildings in and around the Reserve, the woodwork is impressive and has the appropriate brew-pub vibe. Sit outside on a sunny day (as we did) or inside on a rainy day (as we also did).

Despite the limited menu, this is a spot I'd go back to time and time again. Simple dishes made with local products (venison, etc) served indoors or on the fabulous Terrace overlooking the river. A great spot for a meal or just a beer (they stock two local varieties, as well as other domestic Chilean beers)!

Hermoso lugar, totalmente rústico, grato ambiente, calefaccionado.
Ah what a interesting place! As you walk into the restaurant from hall which connects to the lodge, the smell of burn cheap coffee and milk fills the air. On a positive note, its a a great places to sit after a day of skiing to have what the Chileans call "once" unfortunately this cafe does not offer it.
Service was rudimentary and we heard the waitress (we speak Spanish) send a away a table of 12 people because she was too buys to take there order!
Their KUCHEN (The word kuchen actually encompasses a whole array of cakes, pastries and tarts.) were clearly not made on site but due have the local flavor thanks to the generations of German immigrants, especially in the southern Lake District region, who brought their desserts with them
Apart from using the poorest quality cafe (cafe caribe) the barrista has no idea how to make cafe and work, has no interest in learning even thought we told her what was going on.
There is no "open hours" sign on the door. We went at 10 AM and it was closed. We went back at 7 PM, had two desserts and left the burnt cafe. Ill not be going back. - for a cafe.

Excelente trucha a la plancha y cerveza peterman. Comida muy casera al lado de la estufa a leña, en la mitad del pueblo.
