Have passed by this place every year on the way to visit grandma. Finally stopped in today. Best steak in Portugal. Tender and flavorful. "Posta a magarenha" was delicious. Average prices. Huge place. No Reservations accepted so may have to wait for a table but well worth it.

In an old wine cellar, it has a typical decoration but with charm. The fireplace in the living room creates a unique atmosphere. The typical Portuguese food with the best products of the region, from Roasted Cabrito, Fillets of octopus, cod with cheese from the Mountains, duck rice, cooked in Portuguese, rib steak. The sweets are buffet with the most varied sweets from Portugal. The wine list has the best producers in the Dão region, as well as the Douro, Alentejo or you can order wine by the glass.
We have visited the restaurant twice and enjoyed the food and the service.
The location is not great (it's in a place with not much to see around) but it's worthwhile a small detour to go there!
Off course the price is high but the quality is also high.
I would recommend this restaurant for special ocasions!.

If visiting Canas de Senhorim or on the way to Serra da Estrela, this should be a place to stop. Recommended to reserve, mainly on weekends if you don't wait for your turn. The food is amazing with special tempers that makes his food unique. The price and quantities are also a positive point, if you like to eat big portions.

I had heard so much about this restaurant before visiting it. To be honest I did not had a close look at the menu since we were there for the famous sea food rice.....that did not disappoint. The restaurant is quite small so the trick is to arrive early. Also, if you are into fine dinning this is not the place to go, however if you like good food and sea food this is the place to go. Considering the amount of food you get it has a good price/quality/quantity relation.

Unexpectedly good food and attentive service. Pizzas are not great, but the Portuguese food is excellent.

Excellent food accompanied by a selection of fine wines, elegantly served by competent and motivated waitresses. All in a modern and cool ambience and with each course you are getting the right wine. A reasonable package price for something, somewhere else costs much more. On our next visit to Nelas we will come back!

The Paço dos Cunhas restaurant is located in the Portuguese historic village of Santar, 20 kms from the city of Viseu.
The beautiful property is dated from the seventeen century and it is well preserve. The restaurant is lovely like the garden and the rest of the property. The food is fantastic. It is a fusion of traditional Portuguese food and modern “cuisine”. It is quite different from the traditional local restaurants. The service is professional and you can enjoy the good “Dão” (Portuguese region) wine one of the most famous in Portugal.

We found this place by accident on our search for lunch. They server a "prato do dia" for 8€ incl. sopa, main, desert, cafe, drinks which is a very good value as it's hard to find in Portugal places to sit outside for lunch (or dinner on hot summer evenings)
Come here and support these young folks in this new business!

This restaurant is excellent, but it's not fancy at all. It has a warm and friendly atmosphere, and it is full of locals, so it is best to book a table ahead of time. Even though it was full of locals the very sweet waitress spoke English and helped us order. We had grilled octopus, local specialty, which was excellent and also we had pork with a chestnut sauce. Everything was great, including the house wine, which was local, and little fried snacks that they serve when you first arrive. It is a really great place. It is recommended in Charles Metcalfe's Wine and Food Lover's Guide to Portugal.
