Especially if staying at the local hotel, this is a very fine restaurant - plenty of choice and pretty good prices. It always seemed to be full, so much so that it is probably worth booking a table. We went twice and sampled the Javali (wild boar) and the monkfish. Both excellent, but if anything too much to eat for us elderly types. Perhaps we should have asked for a half-portion, or one between two. Nice local wines also, except remember to ask for the red wine not chilled - it spoils it. Both the chocolate mousse and the mango mousse were superb.

This is not a place to have a full meal. Is a great place to try " Tapas", good wines or beer. Is a very relax place with very nice atmosphere, and great animation. Also a great place to some drinks over the night.

Instalações em tijolo "burro" só por si dignas de visita. Lista variada com pratos tradicionais e culinária mais moderna e internacional. Serviço simpático e eficiente.

A great little place. We were lucky to find 2 seats inside. It’s definitely a hang-out for the locals. The decoration is about bullfights and there was actually one on TV whilst we were eating.
The owner seems to be running the business all by himself. He doesn’t speak much English but with a few words of Spanish and Google translator we got what we wanted. We had a bottle of local wine (7 Euro), cured ham with bread, a thin beef steak with chips and garlic shrimps. The shrimps and the ham were delicious. All in all it was an interesting experience and we regretted that we couldn’t interact more with other patrons or the owner.

We stayed one weak in Moura and ate at several restaurants, but this is certainly the best Restaurant in town and surroundings. The menu offers a wide variety of mouth-watering starters. All the products were fresh and the dishes had the warmth of home-made food. The chefs take great care in selecting the best quality ingredients. The restaurant also caters for all tastes by providing a large selection of the best wines of the region. The service accompanies the high quality of the cooking, the owners are charming always around willing to exchange some kind words with all her clients.
Summing up, we are grateful for this wonderful gastronomic experience.
And the management of the Restaurant O Vermelhudo are the best cicerone of Alentejo gastronomy.
Rafaela and Robert.

Visiting "O Encalho" is entering the real world of Alentejo food. Here you can taste the "Arroz de Cabidela" in it's version traditional from Alentejo and the traditional pork meat (Porto Preto) from the black pigs that are only found in Alentejo.
The perfect side is Migas and/or Migas de Espargos. Migas is made with bread, garlic, olive oil and water. It's also very nice to see them cooking it! If you want to see it, ask!
The "Migas de Espargos" have an extra asparagus which makes them particularly delicious!
Deserts are ever so sweet and delicious that they are hard to resist. You will also find cheeses and various types of deli that are worth trying. Oh! And don't forget the wine! Divine!

Restaurante Regional
Had several, meals here during our stay. Friendly staff with a good menu. They happily translated the menu into English for us and were helpful when we didn't understand. The meals were excellent freshly prepared and large portions. The setting is very atmospheric being literally a tunnel, probably an old wine cellar. Be careful,of the corner tables as the lights on the wall are inside old torch holders and the sharpish end spike is just about head height. All in all a good meal out.
