Motala (Swedish pronunciation: [²muːˌtɑːla]) is a locality and the seat of Motala Municipality, Östergötland County, Sweden with 29,823 inhabitants (41,956 in the entire municipality) in 2010. It is the third largest city of Östergötland, following Linköping and Norrköping. Motala is situated on the eastern shore of Lake Vättern and is regarded as the main centre of both the Göta Canal and the surrounding lake region.

Food was OK, personal serving quite serviceminded. But the reception from what I think was the owner was not OK, complaining about the childs pram.

This place is our favourite place in Motala. Good Asian food. Always good taste, good size portions, good and consistent quality. We most often buy take out but the restaurant is quite cozy as well.

Completed 300 klm bike race and made really welcome with cold beer and Steak. Really nice friendly staff the place was full after 23000 Cyclists finished the race and celebrated all afternoon and evening. Beautiful location on the water. Highly recommended. Great Beaches outside town

I recommend this place simply for the stunning view high up in Övralid. The staff is always friendly and the atmosphere is great among guests. Its a great place for a family or a couple to visit.

The restaurant is located at Motala Bilmuseum in the harbor. The location is the best possible because the entire port area has been restored. There are also several restaurants in the area. With tables right on the quayside and stunning views, the prerequisites are the best to manage a restaurant. When it comes to the food it's OK. It took quite some time for the server even though we chose "Today's offer". The restaurant's main advantage is the location.

We had family dinner here for Valentine's Day.
It was a set meny, we added some starters and it was all very tasty, and meat served as asked.
Food is on a good standard, and served tastefully.
I like the decor too, it is cosy and stylish, and a great hang out spot.

Mallboden Cafe and Hostel has an idyllic location along the canal. Our facilities are also at the heart of Sweden's industry cradle, Motala Verkstad. The premises have been utilized for living quarters for the workers' and as storehouses where the maps for boat building was stored. Today in the storehouse is there a cozy cafe with home baked goodies, lunches and our famous waffles. The old living quarters is today a hostel with 8 apartments. Every summer the area is full of traveling people on the Göta kanal but also along it. Either you are traveling by boat or bike you can take a break at Mallbodens Cafe and hostel. Our café has waffels as the speciality. Also homemade cookies, and some dishes like pie, lasagna, Ceasar salad and baked potatoes. Our hostel has 8 apartments were everyone has an equipped kitchen and bedroom for 3-5 persons. Totally we offer 29 beds. Along the Göta kanal we also offer 4 spots for our friends with campers. Very welcome to us.

Set in a very attractive spot, adjacent to the Göta Kanal and opposite the Motala Industry Museum, a short walk from the Baltzar von Platen Memorial.
When we visited on a hot afternon in July, we enjoyed wonderful cakes, filled rolls, tea and beer sitting at a garden table in welcome shade.
There is also Hostel accommodation which we have not tried.
Highly recommended for an afternon tea stop!

Cosy restaurant that has it all. Wonderful staff and a fantastic menu. Drink a cold beer and eat a plate of tasty chicken wings in the shade on a hot summer day and finish with an ice cream that surpasses most. Absolutely amazing place.
