Molndals stadsmuseum

The museum in Molndal is situated at top of the Waterfalls there several different industries eas built along the river. There is a typical homestead history exhibition of the neigbourhood since the eldr stoneadge until today. At the elderstonadge the ground was lower and there was sea between Islands of todays hills and rocks. The more interesting part is the insdustrial period. There was a papermill, several mills (of cereals), looms and olifactory (first linnen oil, later rape, that grow to an chemical industry). Later another papermill was started downstreams the Waterfalls. Early electronic industry (Ericson) is also shown here. The most fascinating is a knitting maschine making gloves. It is still working and the needles are moving so fast, that you don´t se them, unless the maschine is stopped. After the museum I suggest a walk from the backside the museum, down the steep slope through the old industrial village along the Waterfalls. At the end of the Waterfalls there is the old town square at the right side of the Waterfalls, with som restaurants and a cafeteria. The is also a cafeteria in the museum.

Botanical Garden

Welcome to one of the largest botanical Gardens in Northern Europe. The cultivated part occupies 40 acres and holds about 12 000 species. It is a botanical garden with a strong emphasis on horticulture and the garden is divided into different sections linked by lawns with fine trees and shrubs. You will find a kitchen garden, a herb garden, perennial and annual borders, a Japanese glade, a rhododendron valley and a stunning rock garden with a waterfall. In the bulb garden you find species that are not grown anywhere else. The Greenhouses have more than 4 000 species including a large collection of orchids and carnivorous plants. The Eastern Island tree, extinct in its natural locality, is preserved here. The garden is bordering a nature reserve where also the arboretum is located.

Kvarnbyn

Reviewed By AnnaWallman - Gothenburg, Sweden

Kvarnbyn is a neighbour hood of old small houses from the days when people worked in the industries around the falls at Kvarnbyn. You can walk around the neighborhood but not visit the houses. There are two museums, with short opening hours, check the internet for those. In the area are a few restaurants for food and bathrooms. In Stadsmuseet you can rent a device to walk around in the neighborhood and learn about the area.

Can really recommend this place! Fun for kids and adults. The staff was very welcoming and helpful. Over 30 rooms with different challenges. Visited with our children, 11 and 7 years old. The youngest was perhaps a bit too young but with some help from the rest of us, she also had a great time.

Nice park, centrally located. Lawns, woodland, flowers, rose garden, two good cafés, a really nice playground for children, beautiful palm house and nice stroll along canal with nice old buildings on the other side. Always people there, but calm and relaxed anyway. Both young and old keep returning or just passing through.
Summertime open air Concerts. Also a restaurant-concert venue building with modern wood architecture.
Note: It is an enclosed park (with three entrances) and that it is closed during night (see closing hour at the entrance).
Minus: Busy road on two sides, so not that quiet.

Stensjo Center Aventyrsbana

Reviewed By Black_Father - Kungsbacka, Sweden

Lisebergs Nojespark

This popular amusement park offers everything from thrill rides to quiet Gardens.

Reviewed By reneewasaweener - sydney

This is one of the best theme parks I have ever visited. Whilst it houses several fantastic rides, including (the worlds steepest?) wooden rollercoaster and several other fantastic rides, the highlights are the variety of attractions held throughout the year. Halloween cannot be missed, when they cover the grounds with pumpkins, hay and scarecrows and create a selection of amazing spookhouses, nor can winter, where the grounds are filled with Christmas decorations, markets, an ice skating rink with ice Performances and carol singers. The Christmas buffet is delicious also. No expense is spared in making this place amazing.
Also, if you have children the spelhuset inside offers unlimited gaming over three floors of pinball machines, virtual reality, air hockey and arcade games during school holiday periods in winter which is fantastic value.
