We were lucky enough to stay here too. Food was lovely, with very generous portions! Staff were all very attentive if requiring just a little more training .... could not have been any friendlier though.
Our only complaint was the use of plastic straws. We felt they were unnecessary and went against the ethics of Earl's Secret and Ooty.
Other than that we really hope to visit again.

We stayed just one night at the Taj Savoy in India. It was in fact my second time there, the first time was 27 years ago.
The hotel is a welcome relief from the madness that is Ooty now, it has a beautiful lawn where you can take tea and imagine the days when it was occupied by officers of the army.
We had a two room cottage which was big enough for the four of us.
The negatives; The rooms are tired and could do with updating. I don't believe they've been changed since my first visit! Duvets would have been preferable to blankets and the heaters need to be replaced/upgraded as it was very noisy. The bathroom was marble but tired and stained, the hairdryer was useless. The curtains/blinds and fabrics were all tired and again could be updated.
The positives: However the beds were very comfortable and the old world furniture is charming. At night the fire was lit in our room which was fabulous and took the edge of the chill of an Ooty evening.
What really made our stay was the service. The dining room is wood paneled and has the air of elegance about it. The Head waiter took absolute pride in his job, as did his staff and our delicious meal was perfect.
The breakfast was a buffet and there was plenty of choice.
We were provided with water and provisions by the hotel for our long drive down the mountain which was a small touch but one that was memorable.
We hope to return again to the Taj Savoy, it's a comfortable and elegant hotel and I hope that there is some investment into updating the rooms, albeit without losing the old world feel and quaintness of the cottages.

A very nice place to eat authentic biryani and to enjoy the food. Very friendly staffs, good service. Food available up to 12 midnight. Nice and clean. A place to be with friends and family.

Our second visit within a week , and we were not disappointed, delicious, spicy chinese food, served efficiently. We had chilli chicken, crispy fried lamb, water chestnuts in plum sauce, egg fried rice , Schezwan vege noodles and tofu , can only say we over ordered and coudnt do justice to all the yummy food.

We went for dinner after Reading reviews on trip advisor. We were pleasantly surprised with the clean set up and modern decor, the music and overall feel of this place. We had immediate and very attentive service. The menu is very extensive and suited our family of picky eaters. We ordered French fries and the pakwan platter for starters and both dishes were very elegant and delicious. The fries were made fresh, crisp and not very oily. We ordered Hakka noodles, and mix of North Indian dishes. Noodles must have been perfect as my son ate it up without a fuss. Their Dal Pakwan was the best Dal makhni I have ever tasted and if you know me, I have tasted quite a few across the globe. I also order their masala buttermilk which was spiced up with ginger, jeera, green chillies and coriander but wasn't spicy. It was a perfect accompaniment for my meal.
The service was above expectations. They seem to be well staffed with attentive people.
Great place and will surely go back again and would recommend to anyone looking for a tasty and elegant meal in Ooty.

This place has separate vegetarian and non vegetarian outlet. We asked for rava dosa, it was not available. We ordered plain dosa and mysore masala dosa. Taste was not so good and not bad either. We ordered a cup of tea and that was not at all good. Rate was nominal.

We went for a quick lunch to this cafe. We had awesome pizzas which were freshly made and were full of taste. We also purchased lot of chocolates which were really tasty....Thanks for visiting us and for the review we are glad

Delightful small first floor restaurant serving European specialties such as pizzas but with an Indian influence. We were happy to ‘make our own’ pizzas which were absolutely delicious. It was good to have something hot as Ooty was chilly. The honey and lemon drink was also very welcome on that rather cool day. Very attentive and charming waiter. The restaurant gets full in the evenings so is best to call ahead. It was quiet at lunchtime the day we were there. There’s a nice shop on the ground floor selling authentic locally made clothes as well as the pukhoor embroidery of the Todas of the Nilgiris. Altogether a lovely diversion. Thank you to The Place to Bee.

The restaurant is located along side a congested road and as the name suggests, is a place to have Biryani in Ooty. The restaurant is at two levels and all the tables were almost fully occupied during our visit.
The service was very quick and though not rude was more of business like. The serving size was more than sufficient for one person. The Biryani we tried was superb and reasonably priced, considering the quantity.
The restaurant does not have a dedicated parking, though the restaurant staff assists in finding a place to park on the public road.

Needle point view from the top of Nilgiri Mountain in Gudalur need not be missed on the way to Ooty via Gudalur Town. We had a chance to visit Sara's Kitchen Restaurant- and it was quite enjoyable! The restaurant has a scenic view of the hills, and is well-suited for those people who would enjoy a fusion experience in South India.
Parking was good, the wait staff were friendly and explained the dishes well (we were concerned if we could handle the spice level!) and the food was delicious. Good place to take a break.
Wouldn't mind going back here in case we get a chance to go back to Gudalur!
