Coriander in Redwood is proud to be the premier restaurant in Mae Sariang, Mae Hong Son. The building has a long history of at least 90 years as it was modified from an old house made entirely of redwood. It was originally owned by a Thai local and was once used as an office and residence of an Englishmen when they obtained teak concessions in Thailand. Back then, logs were floated down the Yuam River to join the Salawin River, continuing their journey on through Myanmar. Coriander in Redwood prides itself in serving locally sourced and traditional Thai cuisine along side top quality imported western dishes. The restaurant opens daily and boasts the capacity to host up to 150 persons, serving wine and catering Thai dishes as well as delicious steaks for lunch and dinner.
We have visited for dinner. Ordered fresh spring rolls, fried chicken with basil, curry and a lime soda drink. Spring rolls were really good and were the highlight of the evening. Main dishes were okay but nothing to write home about. Lime soda drink is a disaster in my opinion - heap of ice, Sprite-like soda and some squeezed lime mixed in a fairly small glass. All that for 70 B I believe - too expensive for what you get. It was also very sweet probably due to the soda used. We did not enjoy it at all. Portions of food were medium sized, you will need a starter and a main plus rice each not to leave that place hungry. All in all nothing wrong with the food or service (our waiter spoke very little English, but was friendly and was doing her best to help) but do not expect anything special.

Beautiful location on the bank of a river but after waiting for over 1.5 hours for our meal to arrive, only to find they gave us the wrong thing. The serves were small, so much so we had to look for more to eat. If you wanted to drink, the bar seemed popular.

We visited one cool rainy night off season and were the only people in the restaurant. Nevertheless we were greeted with kindness and a big smile.
Our food (chicken with Thai basil - delicious) and (spicy fried pork - not bad) was whipped up in minutes and really quite good.
The bill was very reasonable and the beer cold. What more can you ask for?!

I discovered Corsica last year before the restaurant proper was open. Toom and Patrick had a table set up at curbside and were selling shish-ka-bob and other delectables. I bought a couple of skewers and feasted on them as I stood there chatting with the super friendly proprietors. Toom asked if I would like to sample some pumpkin soup from a recipe she was developing. It was excellent as is all the food I've eaten there since. These folks are so friendly you'll stick around and chat with them every time you visit.
I stopped in the next day for dinner and had, believe it or not, an excellent paella! Two jumbo shrimp, chicken, peas, rice — a real plateful and all for only 90 baht. I bought one to take along on my trip to Mae Sot next day.
Their menu is flexible so don't expect to find paella every day but whatever you have, it will be good. And they have pizza too.
Highly recommended.

Tranquil restaurant set back from the road in a lovely garden. Enthusiastic and friendly welcome from the owner, who speaks good English. Only a salad on the menu for vegetarians....but she offered me a couple of other options. My simple fried rice was delicious - interesting additions of pineapple, cashews and sultanas. Menu consists mostly of deep fried meat options, but the tamarind mix dish was well received. Definitely worth the walk! No English sign but the position is correct on google.

With the lack of western food in Mae Sariang - this little place will sort you out with some Thai style steaks and fries. It's a nice and cozy setting although the service is a little slow especially for larger orders - 4 ppl. They do coffee and shakes...why not have one as you wait?

Delicious Western and Thai food - freshly prepared and served on the lovely deck overlooking the Moei River.
We had fish with herbs, chicken with pineapple sauce, fried morning glory and steamed rice.
Afterward, we sat in this lovely place and enjoyed freshly brewed local coffee and delicious brownies with whipped cream.
A memorable evening. We could stay here forever!
