WOOD FIRED FROM THE HEART FAVOLA, a specialty Italian restaurant by the Kok River, is the ultimate riverside dining destination in Chiang Rai for the "lazy gourmet" in a contemporary country scene, with breathtaking views of the Kok River and surrounding Mountains either day or evening. The cuisine in Favola is more of a journey rather than a meal period reflecting its name which means "fable or story" in English, where simplistic Italian flavours are presented from our signature wood fired oven and char-grill along with an array other Authentic Italian favourites.
The Italian Restaurant St Le Meridien Chiang Rai is a "must experience" for anyone traveling in Thailand. Located on the river, the setting is serene, and the service is exceptional. Upon arrival, we decided to seek a wonderful bottle of wine. We found that and more at the restaurant bar. The setting was so beautiful we decided to make a reservation for dinner that evening.
For dinner, things only got better. Wonderful musicians entertained with selections from Karen Carpenter and Carol King. The candles on the table and the ticki torches lighting the paths added to a perfect ambiance. Great food, great wine, great service, great setting. Oh my!!! Perfection is achieved. For a romantic evening, this is a great way to start.

This cafe is opposite the bus station and is a good place for a drink or quick meal. We visited at lunch time and were not disappointed. The club Sandwich and French fries were good as was the stir fry.
The staff were friendly and spoke good English.
The price was reasonable and I recommend that you visit.

Welcome to Chivit Thamma Da, a small family run Cafe, Bistro and Bar located right on the banks of the beautiful Kok River in Chiang Rai, northern Thailand. We serve natural, fresh and home made Food, Bakery, Coffees and Drinks in a slow environment close to nature, with plenty of flowing water, flowers, birds and fresh air. We believe that life should be slow, simple and beautiful. At Chivit Thamma Da you are encouraged to take your time and stay as long as you like.
See the other reviews. This is as good as it gets. Super smart operator, excellent service, excellent menu, fab location on the river, excellent property.
Prices marginally above average. Value for money is excellent.
Cake, food, coffee, cocktails it has it all.
Cannot recommend it enough and deserves the effort to get there (songtheow/taxi/bike). Close to the blue temple to make an afternoon out of it.
Completely bang on!

My wife and I were looking for a place to have breakfast other than MSG packed noodles or deep fried stuff(which its alright for lunch or dinner if you're traveling) and were lucky to find this amazing charming place. Great ambience, great food, service and the BEST coffee so far in a one month trip. Would give it more stars if I could

Our food is combination between Northern cuisine and Thai food. We have some selections for gluten free, vegetarian and vegan available.
We went to the Barrab by the clock tower, not sure about the other reviews but the restaurant we went to was ok, nothing amazing. The food came out super quick, like two minutes so obviously had been siting at the back. It was ok food and a nice restaurant to sit in but nothing amazing and I would say you could find better probably.

A lovely small cafe on top of the Doi Maesalong, enjoying spectacular views of the Doi Maesalong Tea plantation Valley. We specialize in gourmet bakeries, serving true bakeries, just how they should be. Whether it be cakes, or macarons. Not to forget our bakeries are freshly baked each day.We are no ordinary cafe nor bakery.
What we like --
*The food is superbly delicious.
*Panoramic view from the Terrace is mesmerizing.
*While Doi Mae-Salong is flooded with Yunna Chinese restaurant and tea shops, Sweet Maesalong is the only Western cuisine you can find and they do it brilliantly.
What we don't like --
*Poor signage. Coming from the main market of Doi Mae-Salong, there's no signage until you are at the cafe and the sign is actually facing the other way. GPS on Google Maps is reliable though.
*Very limited parking space.
*The service is a bit soul-less, though helpful, for a cafe this size.
*Very limited Seating space. The cafe also takes large group reservation (for example, up to 20 people) so if you are there at the same time, there might be no space left.
We like the food and the view very much. But if you are more into local culture, Sweet Maesalong is just another Western cafe.

We bake bread, cakes and food in a Scandinavian/Thai way. Our bakery is located near the central bus station in the middle of Chiang Rai. Here you will find breads and cakes baked the Scandinavian way. The bakery is frequented by both locals and foreign visitors. Today, there is also the opportunity to eat delicious Thai and western food in a warm and peaceful environment. In the late 1990s we began baking cinnamon buns to sell on the main road. This turned out to be a pretty good business idea. Dreams of a café located in the city began to take shape. In 2001 two of our oldest girls were given the opportunity to be trained as pastry chefs at Peder Printer Patisserie School in Varberg, Sweden. In 2002 we found a location in the heart of Chiang Rai where we began offering Swedish coffee. By 2005 the business had expanded to include food service. BaanChivitMai Bakery has a permanent staff of cooks, bakers and servers. During weekends and school breaks, the older children at BCM have the opportunity to work there where they receive on-the-job training as well as the ability to earn some pocket money. BCM Bakery also serves as a vital source of information about BaanChivitMai Foundation. Customers who visit the café can read about and look at pictures of BCM's various activities. All profits from the bakery go back to the Foundation to save children from vulnerable situations and give them a better future. The café’s offerings of cinnamon buns, marzipan pastries, chocolate balls and cakes in the Scandinavian style have become quite popular in Chiang Rai. More recently BCM Bakery has begun offering some very tasty Thai food while continuing to serve more traditional items like Swedish meatballs with lingonberries and other western dishes.
Went for a quick breakfast because I am leaving for Cambodia. There was a very serene feeling which was well appreciated. I had some tea and baguette. It was nice for a change their baked goods looked delicious. I would returned when back in town. I love that it's a non profit for orphans and hiv.

Jatujak Gallery & Restaurant is where you can enjoy great food along with a tasteful showcase of artistic collectibles. We bring you a unique dining experience set in refined, yet pleasant and relaxing atmosphere. Service: Thai food, quality wine / vip room / karaoke room / available for 70 people
This was excellent, OK a little bit pricier than the average Thai restaurant but it's worth it. I splashed out on my last dinner on this trip in Thailand. Had chicken satay starter and then fish in spicy pineapple sauce. Out flipping standing. Had a couple of reasonably priced glasses of house white for a change from Thai beer. Service great in very stylish surroundings.

Nice omelette breakfast. Really good americano from coffee beans grown in their own farm. The cappuccino was too milky for me, so I'll stick with the pure coffee. Service is friendly and quick.

I would like to present my little bakery shop in town. The name is "Polar Boulangerie and Patisserie". We're serve a premium quality of a breads, desserts, breakfast, many kind of sandwiches and great coffee. Everything were made by ourselves. Focused on the quality of ingredients and taste. The owner (my wife and my boss) of Polar is done and control their in every step. The main raw materials are imported from Europe and the Americas, such as France, England, Denmark, the USA, etc. The principle for the selection of raw materials. We consider the highest quality first All customers will receive the best quality food.
Polar is located past the Mae Fah Luang Gardens down a very tiny lane - but a good "find" for coffee, cakes, and light meals. We enjoyed all, including a chat with the very friendly owners. This is a very nice place to unwind after a day of sightseeing - if you can find it!
