Room with A View, Seafood Restaurant situated within the Forth View Hotel in the coastal village Aberdour, Fife. Enjoy succulent scallops, wholesome halibut & Fresh Langoustines and many more delicious seasonal seafood dishes cooked to exquisite perfection. Whilst also enjoying the small but special menu you can enjoy the spectacular views of Edinburgh and the river Forth whilst listening to local Classical Guitar player Nick Rees on the sound system (who also plays live on occasion). Every seat offers a view of Edinburgh or Aberdour Harbour or climbers on the Hawkcraig Cliffs. On a sunny day it is nice to enjoy a pre-dinner drink in the garden area or eat Al fresco
Often great views from a restaurant equates to overpriced, poor quality food. This definitely is NOT the case with Room with a View. Location is spectacular with panoramic vistas looking over the bay to Aberdour, the Forth Rail Bridge and stretching over to Arthur’s Seat and beyond in Edinburgh.
The restaurant itself is small, only 8 or so tables tucked into a little dining room simply but neatly decorated in the Forth View Hotel. The building is down a steep track from the Silver Sands car park, either walk (no heals/posh shoes) or take the restaurant up on the offer of a lift.
The menu is small and well thought out, not too fancy but still with some innovation. Service was attentive without being overbearing.
Food, primarily seafood as you’d expect, was very well prepared and presented. Tasting plates are on offer for starters and desserts which offer a good chance to try a variety of dishes. Mains were also very well prepared with some interesting flavours and texture combos.
The wine list looks interesting, although unfortunately we didn’t have a chance to try many of them out.
We had lunch for three people - 3 courses with a glass of wine each all for just over £100 - very good value for money too.
Highly recommended.

We were in Kirkcaldy for one night and arrived late without a reservation. It looked like the restaurant was winding down and most people were leaving. We got a table for two nonetheless and enjoyed some delicious food and fantastic service.
Unexpectadly the owner Tom stopped by to chat to my wife and I after our main course. He was a lovely bloke and made the evening for us. We both agreed it made the meal that more special and the personal touch is often lost in a lot of restaurants we visit.
Also, I never thought I would eat liquorice and enjoy it but I did here. Bravo Tom!

I personally hadn't been here for 4 or 5 years since we moved further away. Used to come here frequently and was always a favourite of ours.
Since my last visit the restaurant has been refurbished and the section, which I think was a closed private function area, has now been opened up as part of the main restaurant.
The place is now much more modern and tastefully decorated and furnished.
Some of our group went for the buffet deal including 5 drinks for £23 and others buffet only for £12 choosing to add soft drinks. Either way excellent value for money.
The buffet is much bigger then before, offering endless choices of starters, mains and Deserts. Food quality is fantastic too.
Thanks to the staff for hosting our night out.
I'll certainly be back very soon.

Nestled in the rich farming hamlet of Auchtertool, this cosy restaurant has been refurbished recently to create an eclectic mix of old and new. Roaring log fires create a relaxed and informal atmosphere in winter. The philosophy behind the food is purely to use the produce of some Fife farmers, growers and producers, so that our food will never have to travel far to reach your table. As an independent free house it is our aim to serve a good quality, ever-changing selection of local and regional cask ales, along with delicious, but inexpensive house red and white wines, up to champagnes to help you celebrate in style
Nice cosy little counrty pub out in thane of fife's wonderful countryside.
The food was very nice and tasty. Service nice and friecdly.
2 things which did niggle me... i found the prices rather expensive for what it is. The curry was around £12 but a bit of a rip off. I would be happy to pay around £9 instead. They have a lovely picture advert for whisky with 2 snuggly dogs but it is a Christmas message on it.... perhaps this would be only better to put up at Christmas time.
Would go back as enjoyed the meal.

With little costs and more thought to ambience this could be a great restaurant.
No music whatsoever is totally unacceptable and meant we heard everyone talking with silence in between including the staff speaking in their own language. This included the phone ins for take away orders.
In addition the lights were too bright and no candles on the tables and no screens or booths making it feel like a cafe.
Food and variety of menu was great and only for that reason will we go back but only for a take away until these matters are changed which is such a shame as this has great potential.
Even if soft classical oriental music was playing (prs free!) and the lighting softer and some screens and table candles all of which could be achieved immediately and very inexpensively this restaurant would have a completely different feel and would be up to the standard of the food.
To add to all of the above the owners families young children were running around
WE WERE SO FRUSTRATED AT WHAT THIS PLACE COULD ACHIEVE WITH A LITTLE THOUGHT given the food is so good and we hope the owners read this and take action.

Food delicious, staff friendly and a coffee shop that clearly CARES about coffee!!
Try their speciality coffee!
Only criticism - and it's not really their fault - it's very small! So on busy days you sometimes can't get a seat and it's certainly a struggle with a buggy!
There is also no baby change facilities, and while frustrating (I have a 6 month old baby) the coffee is so good I put up with it!
