We stayed at this lodge and had dinner with them every night of our visit which included roasted partridge, char fish, scallops in pumpkin soup, and desserts, wine and cheese to die for. The staff was incredibly helpful with everyone working extremely hard to ensure we understood the menu and that all our expectations were exceeded. I can't say enough positive things about this hotel and restaurant. Our suite was very nice with a balcony and a nice view. It was quite a good value in the Relais and Chateau group of hotels. The room and bathroom were spacious and the beds were comfortable. They also had a great breakfast buffet. There is no charge to park your car and it is an easy drive to Colmar or the Le Corbusier Chapel in Ronchamp. This facility has a lodge atmosphere with nice wood interiors and decor. I do wish to express our gratitude to the staff who redefined charm: Audrey who spoke excellent English and kept an eye out for our every need. Laeticia who was so kind to pack up our leftover veal so we could snack on it the next day en route to Strasbourg, Bertille who not only gave great service in the hotel but she also helped haul in our luggage the day we arrived. And last but not least, Cyril who helped me navigate an astounding wine list the size of a dictionary! He was also a master of the frommage which we lovingly refer to as the chariot of cheese!!! So needless to say, we hope to make it back to this part of France and will pilgrimage here if at all possible. Merci and kind regards from your new fans in Texas!

I shouldn't say that because they will probably end up getting their Michelin-star and the price will go to the roof, but it's the first time I award 5/5 for a restaurant.
The restaurant was my best surprise ever for a restaurant : poetic and delicious food. Everything there is about details : this cheerful family-owned business has succesfully managed modernizing Lorraine cuisine, creatively using local ingredients such as munster, fir tree,.. in a way you wouldn't expect. And all that for a bargain !
Thank you !

I visited this restaurant for a luncheon amongst colleagues (during our short-ski break) back in Jan2012.
We were a group of +- 10-12 and had made no reservation. We were welcomed very friendly, served in the most gentle way, food was excellent and served in a timely manner (taking into account the various dishes and size of our group), with a smile.
The price for our luncheon was very correct and paid with a smile ! Will certainly return here when back in La Bresse.

In a rustic and warm room, come to take advantage of friendly moment and to discover numerous specialities of mountain. Authentic raclette, melted in cheeses, fondue bourguignonne and grill-stone, will delight the papillae of the gourmands and the gourmets. The Sawmill, it is also pancakes in the buckwheat, the mixed salads, the sweet crepes(pancakes) and the ice-cold cups(cuttings). The ideal opportunity to be allowed try(tempt) by the inimitable Sandwich bressaude, conjugating marvelously farmhouse bread, lardons, potatoes and hot Munster, or still by a fondue Hohneck, in Munster naturally, and why not by one " Lispach, a pancake of buckwheat mixing(involving) egg, boiled ham and fondue of leeks. Some specialities among many of the others to taste(savour) outside(in terrace) or in the corner of the fireplace on a soft summer evening mountain dweller. Of the entrance(entry) to the dessert, the Sawmill displays as your inescapable(major) culinary stage after an active ournee in the massif. In 4 km hardly ski runs of the station(resort) of Bresse-Hohneck, the establishment offers you a unique(only) and restful frame(executive). Reservations recommended . T In winter THE SAWMILL, it is also the ski hire, the rackets(snowshoes), the cross-country skiings, the skis of hike(ride).... With an on-line reservation system on the site
Good crepes for fair prices. They have a full menu with lots to choose. The restaurant is an old sewery and still has some authentic machinery. Overall a very good place to have diner.

We came here for a quick lunch, but being a typical French restaurant, the service dragged the meal out into a 2-hour affair. That said,it was an enjoyable experience.
Wait staff was super friendly and polite. Service was long-ish, but not unreasonable. The place filled up and the staff were working hard.
My advice is this. Avoid the prix-fixe menu. My 3 dining companions went with it, and although there were no complaints over their starters of quiches, mains of mashed potatoes and ham off the bone, and dessert of ice cream (they could have gone with blueberry tart if they'd wanted to) it was nothing compared to my a la carte choices.
The Vosgienne salad was heavy on the cream sauce and bacon, but I doubt many would complain about that. I went with the stingray as my main course, and boy, was that the most beautifully prepared fish I've had in this corner of France. Cooked to perfection, it was delicate, and served with an exquisite sauce (white wine and butter reduction, I'm guessing).
We all had plenty, and struggled to finish our meals. Very generous portions, and price was OK. Highly recommend for AFTER a hard day of skiing.

We dined here two evenings this week and absolutely loved it. Great food, attentive service and good value in a setting which feels more upmarket than the location suggests. Two of our group have two eat gluten free. This was no problem. They have a very detailed separate menu which itemized all allergy ingredients. By the second evening when they knew we were coming they had specially prepared glthen free bread. We were so grateful. Thank you!!
