This is our 4th holiday to Mike’s Hotel and once again the family have welcomed us like life long friends, and helped us have the most relaxing holiday you cold wish for. Nothing is too much trouble, and as always we were treated like kings the whole time we were there. In fact two days after we arrived we booked up for next year just to make sure we could get in. Looking forward to it already.

A Traditional Greek Tavern which focuses on the creation of original delicious dishes combining tradition and imagination.
A local proposed me this fish tavern and i was a bit disappointed with the food.
Don't bother with the salads. The fish is fresh indeed but something is missing to give some taste. The service is good though and polite, not all of them. I think only the boss.

Pailio Arhontiko stands out from the other restaurants next to it not only for its wonderful menu but also its beautiful decor and wonderful service.
On arrival you are greeted with a smile and complimentary glass of sparkling wine and get your first chance to explore the menu. We tried a number of different dishes and none disappointed. From the pork bites, octopus, marinated chicken and salads all were beuatifully, cooked, flavoured and presented. The service was attentive but not over the top. We went just before they shut for the winter period (they open again in April) but were still fed and looked after well. For an after dinner treat try the dessert wine and homemade dark chocolate and nit bites - absolutely amazing!
We went twice in theweek we were in Crete and I will certainlygo again when I return to the Island

We ate lunch here outside with lovely views of the sea and dinner inside with family and friends. The food is lovely with traditional favourites as well as some more unusual dishes. Service is good and staff very friendly. Will certainly be returning when we are next in Maleme.

We have reviewed Kali Kardia in Afrata, Tis Litsas Ta Kamomata is the other restaurant on the right!
Firstly they serve the local unpasteurised beer, if for no other reason drop in for that! The Taverna is family run and of the same high standard as Kali, you honestly can't divide either (apart from the beer).
Comedy moment? The lamb and goat from the grill is usually the same meat, although they may forget to remember what you ordered when serving;
Waiter 'Here is your Goat madam
Guest 'I ordered Lamb?
Waiter ' Yes Lamb!'
Guest 'This lamb is gorgeous!!'
Well worth a visit and they also sell local jewellery and honey

Went into the restaurant twice. First time for drinks and then the next night for dinner.
I had the Kleftiko which was really nice as a main and also garlic bread. Washed down with Amstel! Maybe a few of them....
Host was brilliant, made the experience what it was.

Lovely friendly restaurant serving a wide variety of Cretan and English dishes at reasonable prices. Although Graham, the owner was not cooking himself the evening we visited, he still insisted on inspecting each dish before it was served. We both had the traditional Cretan lamb dish, Tsigariasta, which was delicious. We visited on the last night of our 2 week all- inclusive holiday, had we gone earlier I know we would have gone back again! Graham, a Londoner from Shepherd's Bush is the perfect host and his restaurant is spotless. Despite not being on the seafront, the restaurant is high up on the main road and has a lovely view from the back Terrace over fields and out to the sea.

Right next to Kastalia Vlllage in Kamisiana - owned by Manolis and Stella Louladakis
We had no trouble finding this as it was next door to our apartment, the Kastalia Village. We had a delightful table on the Terrace and watched the sun set over the sea. Many restaurants would rely on this for their custom, but not here. The food was excellent, plentiful and not expensive- fifty euros for 3 courses and half a litre of house wine.
We shared anchovies and courgette fritters to start. Whilst the anchovies were good the fritters were sensational- absolutely delightful! Mains were the recommended swordfish plate. It was a very large piece and beautifully cooked on a griddle. Before the starters we had free bread and tomato paste. Both were excellent- fresh and seasoned with herbs. The free stuff just flowed! A glass of ouzo was on the table as we sat. Can't comment on it as neither of us like it. After the mains a free chocolate pudding arrived, then a glass of sweet wine to finish.
The service was friendly and efficient. Please try this place and don't forget to ask for the courgette fritters.

A nice surprise. Excellent food in particular sardines and octopus but also the pepper with rice inside . The fried shrimps were also delicious. We liked the atmosphere which is not the fake one you can find in the taverns (restaurants) next door with personell inviting you to enter their restaurants with semi gentle ways...
The owner is very kind and explains you dishes outside the menu indicating the fresh products and the frozen ones .
The wine from the wood , of the house, is OK . Prices are decent and line with expectations . 8 people for 96 euros . Not bad and well done.

Michalis and Maria run a beautiful traditional taverna, the sort that is rapidly disappearing unfortunately.
Rather than look at the menu, I advise that you just ask Michalis what he recommends. You will not be disappointed.
The food cooked by Maria is traditional and delicious. All in all, a treasure not to be missed.
