24 hours work. nice and clean place. food was little salty, but still very delicious. everything was nice, but they can't speak english at all. well, even if you ask something, they will speack by Japanes as same as otherone do. but not that big problem, you can order with photo.

You can enjoy relaxing time with viewing of Kanmon Strait at Restaurant Mojiko Retro Beer. We are serving fresh and flavorful craft beer which is brewed at our own factory. Our specialty “baked curry rice”, “kiln baked pizza” which dough is fermented by beer yeast are the best with our beer. Also, New Zealand tender lamb barbecue, “Genghis Khan” will not let you stop getting another glass of beer! We are ready for the various party (private hire is available depend on number of people). Ground floor (Genghis Khan restaurant) : 50seats 3rd floor : 80seats Please feel free to contact us!
This restaurant sits next to a channel at Mojiko Port on Kyushu and across from Shimonoseki. It is also just across the drawbridge and steps away from the frequent and fast ferry to Shimonoseki.
They brew their own beers here, and have actually a very good Hefe-Weissbier. We got the grilled octopus and it was amazingly good. If we had not had a lunch at the Shimonoseki Fish Market not too many hours before, we would have doubled the order!
They also had a nice variety of food items, including homemade suasages.
Prices are reasonable for Japan.

I heard it is over thirty years since this Sandwich shop was opened. On entering it, you can find a refrigeration showcase which is packed with ingredients of sandwiches. And then you can choose two favorite ingredients for one Sandwich. Price depends on the more expensive of the two ingredients. My recommendation is a combination of original sauce and chicken, and of cream cheese and fruits. These are popular with local people. Of course, you can eat inside of the shop but it is not large, so sometimes you must wait for tables. The Western-style interior is retro and cool. If you like sandwiches, it is worth trying.

I went for lunch here with my 22-year old son along with two Japanese friends who live in Kitakyushu, who chose this restaurant, Kogetsudo, for lunch. The superb bakery with beautiful sweet goods is on the first floor. There was already a line when we got there and were afraid that it would be a long wait. It moved quickly though. It turns out that there is Seating on more than one floor. I think our Japanese friends often take visitors here as it is a good Japanese restaurant in the mid-range and close to Kokura Castle Japanese Garden. My female Japanese friend and I both ordered a bento. Mine was lovely and delicious. My son and Japanese male friend ordered curry along with extra rice. Maybe with extra rice came along an extra bowl of curry, because the servings were huge! They finished every bit though! I really enjoyed this restaurant because the food was very good and it did not feel touristy. If course, I was also with wonderful company then!

It's worth the wait for the particular Japanese style curry at this restaurant. Not far from the attractions in town.

If you can't speak Japanese, it's not an issue at this place. Order electronically and the conveyer belt drops off sushi individually at your table. The sushi is fresh, the location convenient, and the staff is super efficient. Prices are totally inexpensive. If you're at the JR station in Kokura, make a pit stop.

While staying in Kitakyushu, we were eager to try a few good restaurants. Seeing a few highly rated unagi restaurants, I had our hotel call to see which one had an English menu.
It turns out that most of them do but the hotel concierge recommended Inakaan as the one she would go to. It was definitely a good recommendation. The restaurant is a short 5 to 10 minute walk from Kokura station located on a side street. The front of the restaurant is very quaint and has several pictures of their various unagi combination. The dining room is small but still has room for several tables. The back drop was beautiful. I felt very comfortable in there.
When we got there, they welcomed us warmly although there wasn't someone who spoke English. They did understand when we asked for an English menu. It turns out that they had their japanese menu with an English description of each item hand written in the menu. I actually preferred that as I know I'm getting the same menu as all the other customers. Service was quick, attentive, and polite.
The food is definitely the star. I have been to several unagi restaurants throughout Japan and I feel that Inakaan is amongst the best that I have been to so far. I found Inakaan's unagi to be well seasoned, lightly sauced, and cooked the way I like it. The unagi came to the table still slightly steaming and the aroma of the sauce can be smelled faintly. My wife got the combination that includes a side of broth that you add to the bowl. Her unagi was cut up smaller and also cooked a bit firmer. We both got a medium serving and it was plenty of food.
If you are in Kitakyushu, definitely give Inakaan a try! You won't be disappointed.

Just ate here after scouring the Kokura area for restaurants that are open. As a side note, a lot of Japanese establishments are closed fro New Years, something that we did not know when booking. Anyway, barely anything was open. Having eaten in other Ichiran branches already, the one in Kokura was not really on our list, but we ended up there anyway. As you'd expect, Ichiran's tonkotsu ramen was great. If you want no-fail ramen in Kokura, then Ichiran is the answer.
