Upo Wetland

Reviewed By kjmagnuson - Los Angeles, California

Upo is unique as one of the only inland wetlands in the country. The location of Upo is very rural, and is relatively unknown even in Korea. The wetland is an important bird sanctuary and has been recognized by Ramsar as of high ecological importance.
Upo wetland can be enjoyed very pleasantly in 1-2 hrs. I highly recommend renting a bicycle nearby the entrace. They are affordable and are perfect for exploring the wetland. There are wide bike paths surrounding the wetland, and on spring day, a bike ride here is really as good as it gets.
For bird enthusiasts there are many different seasons to visit, but for the vast majority of visitors spring is best. Summer is likely to be too hot and humid, winter too cold, and fall also very hot. In spring everything was a lush green; turtles, ducks, and egrets were easy to spot. The closest city to Upo is Daegu, and the easiest way to visit the site is by using a car.

The park is very near the city (to the south) and you can easily reach it with the bus. There are many paths and trails leading to different temples and peaks. There is also a cable car which takes you to the Apsan Mountain.
The view of the city is nice and in the summer it is a bit less hot up there. It is a nice green getaway.

What a beautiful mountain scenery! I went there just a week ago and the summer was right there! They also have a hiking road. I was so glad that I got crossed this place off of of my must-visit list. The admission fees cost $3(U.S.) per person. If you bring car, you should pay fees to reserve a parking spot.

Wine Tunnel

Reviewed By thelonious22 - Seongnam

The tunnel can be visited for free for the first 200 meters. Along it, you can see some wine bottles stored and taste the wine for 3000 won per glass (cheese and crackers available for 5000 won and you can buy the whole bottle for about 20,000 won). Persimmon flavored wine is what's made here and it's very sweet. You can pay 2000 won to visit another couple hundred meters of the tunnel. When I went there were art works in display. Despite being out in nowhere, there are a lot of tourists here on weekends. It can be a little difficult to get to via public transport. A 2km walk from Namseonghyeon station (very infrequent stops, so check schedule) and a 10km bus (infrequent) or cab ride from Cheongdo station.
