Kasese is a town north of Lake George in the Western Region of Uganda. It originally grew around the copper mine at Kilembe, while attention later turned to cobalt mining. It is the chief town of Kasese District, and the district headquarters are located there. Kasese is also the largest town in the Rwenzururu region. Charles Mumbere, the Omusinga of Rwenzururu, maintains a palace in the town.

Restaurant inside White House Hotel.
Although the hotel side of things is fine and you can have a cold drink, the restaurant is really terrible. The tables/chairs are the simple plastic kind normally used outdoors. Service is a word unknown to the staff and the food is really bad. one of the chef's specialties is a hamburger, which is some unidentifiable overcooked meat on stale bread. The chips they serve have mold on them and the fish is fried when it arrives and just heated when a customer requests one. There are not too many dining options in Kasese, but this should be on your avoid list.

The best place for dinner in Kasese. Part of the hotel with the same name. See website.
Here you can get some decent food, but not exceptional. Some of the meals listed could not be made as ingredients were not there. The goat meat is pretty O.K., but not better then you get in scores of other places. The spaghetti is fine as well. The place is nothing special, but considering this is Kasese, it is one of the few dining options out there and this place is worth a visit. You can have dinner indoors, but dinner at the lawn outside is nicer.

Wildlife Explorers is a travel company that opened a snack next to its office in Kasese, Ouganda. We offer drinks and meals that can be seldom found in Uganda or Kasese. Real Italian Cappuccino, Belgian Waffles, French crêpes, American Pancakes, fruit juices (not with plenty of water as elsewhere in Uganda), Bananamilk and much more. Our first customers told us our cake is the best ever! Most of our supplies are coming from our ecofarm partners or the local market. No preservatives, no food colorant and no chemical product in our food: only natural and fresh. And really affordable! We are ideally situated at the entrance of Kasese on your way from Kampala/Fort Portal to Queen Elizabeth NP, on the foothills of Rwenzori Mountains.

I read a bit about the Jambo cafe before I visited last week after a trekking trip in The Rwenzori Mountains. I popped over during the evening and Alice and her friend greeted me and I donated a book for their collection. I ordered a mango smoothie with fruit salad and yoghurt and both were delicious. The ladies were very friendly and chatty, please visit and support this co - operative partnership.

Our guide stopped in Kasese for fuel and I did a quick google to find a coffee shop and got out guide to take us there. It was amazing. Great coffee PLUS ice-cream. What more can you want on holiday!
Put it on the list. Tick.
Note: Its not quite where tripadvisor/google thinks it is so look further on the road on the right!
