1st of July, 2017: The Upstairs Restaurant is an exciting new high end restaurant bringing the best of Perth dining to Kalbarri without charging remote tourism prices. Our Owner and Manager(Tala) has extensive experience in fine dining service management, while our Chef comes from fine dining halls internationally. Meanwhile, in the background, the Project Manager (Tyson) is developing large ideas to improve the design and atmosphere of the premises over the long term. This young and creative team is working hard to ensure quality and consistency for all our customers; locals and tourists alike. Please come in to experience the difference yourself, we're open from 4pm every day except Tuesday.
We booked early because of our little one, Tala our host was simply superb! Great sense of humour and understanding of her menu and drinks list!
Out little one demolished the Spanish Meatballs (no chips) and all the Vegatables including the amazing babaganoush that we all had. The Ribs were spectacular and the Red Emporer with cockles were divine!
The little known wineries and wines are delicious a true tribute to this little spot in Kalbarri!
We loved the Sangria and Tasmanian Pinot Noir along with all the desserts tried amongst our family!
Thanks, highly recommend as good value for high quality dining in a coastal paradise!

I wasn't very hungry and asked just for a salad Sandwich and Strawberry Milkshake, Best salad Sandwich ever and the Milkshake was to die for, and so much of it. Hubby had the Popcorn Squid, which when he started raving about it I had to have a taste too, he didn't exaggerate....

We are essentially a take-away seafood business. Our menu includes Australian fish and chips cooked in Ricebran Oil, a variety of Burgers and fresh salads. We also have various sauces to complement your meal, drinks and ice creams. All food is cooked to orders and wrapped as a take-away meal. Customers are welcome to sit at tables outside our shop and enjoy the ambiance of the boats on the Marina, and most often a beautiful sunset.
Have been coming to Kalbarri for many years, and always frequent this place at least once. Last night’s scorecard =
The good: the fish (Spanish Mackerel) was excellent at $12.50 a piece.
The bad: wait was a bit long based on the number of clients when washed about the number of staff . That said, the surrounds and view across to the river helps pass the time of day.
The Ugly: the minimum serve of chips is $5.00....the highest of seen in WA. But what makes it obscene was the quality of the chips and the number. We must have received a special blend of the end bits or a bottom of a bag. Have a look at the photo and you’ll see what I mean!
Anyway, it could have been a perfect score but for the chip issue (first world problem I know!).

Great Service, Great Food and Great Value. Family Friendly Tavern with stunning views from our verandahs. We are owner / operators of a small business and work very hard to provide a personal and positive experience for our customers. We like to think we do this well, but we do get it wrong every once in a while. If you have a problem with our service, please approach any of the staff, you can be assured we will deal with any problem quickly and efficiently.
Had a quick dinner here with family, we were looking for a quick bite to eat after sight seeing all day and were all starving. Service was pretty good. Food was ok. My hubby enjoyed his steak.

We were looking forward to our meal. The service was good, but the meal itself was disappointing. The chicken nuggets were like cardboard and the fish was not that tasty at all.

We provide excellent service in a relaxed atmosphere with a menu that covers the best available local seafoods through to cuisine options from around the world.
We came for dinner, didn't book and weren't staying at the resort. Pork belly bites for entree were yummy. The Beef Cheek Ragout is very tasty, would definitely recommend. If you love Brownies, treat yourself to their dessert menu, the crumble was delicious too. Staff...MoreDear Marwinkle1 Thank you so much for taking the time to post your review of our restaurant - we do appreciate it. We do hope to see you again when next you visit Kalbarri. Fresh homemade pizza and pasta. Local family owned and managed. Open Tuesday to Sunday. Open 7 days a week during school holiday. Take away only and Delivery service available around the town.
Firstly we thought we'd get a take away pizza for Friday night, Hadn't done it for years. Placed an order online mid afternoon, no response back, so thought would ring just before 5pm to confirm order. Apparently on line orders were not checked by then, so placed our order again of 1 x lge combo of half supreme and half seafood and one mdm mafiosa for Delivery. As soon as we opened the boxes we had that thought, this does not look good. Anyway overall, the base was as chewy as leather, not much cheese at all. Toppings were scant, using small tinned prawns and a couple of slivers of squid and thank god for some anchovy for some taste. We found that the next day it did taste better cold than the night before but we still put most in the bin. No flavour, thin, tough bases. We've had much better from years before. Not going to try again at the price we paid.

Black Rock offer's modern Australian cuisine in a relaxed, family & friendly atmosphere with a seasonal changing menu and a coastal rustic feel. Please pop in and say hi to Alannah & Tony we will be more than happy to have a chat.
We, two mature couples, stopped at the Black Rock cafe for breakfast after watching the pelican feeding and were so impressed with the quality of the food & service that we returned for an evening meal. The dinner menu is imaginative and is well worth trying something unusual. There is a good wine list and is well priced. The restaurant is clean and has wifi.

Pizza for our kid was good, my angus burger was dry, no flavour , disappointing. Chips were burnt. Second visit our garlic prawns were raw. Asked for replacement, they were luke warm straight from the kitchen and also barely cooked. Staff were nice, and cold beers on tap, but they need to get some basics with the food right.
