A visit to the Isle of Lewis is like stepping into the pages of a Scottish fairy tale. Everywhere you look, medieval structures remind you of the island’s remarkable history. The legendary Callanish Standing Stones poke up from the ground like a strange and massive stone city. The Blackhouse, the Shawbost Norse Mill and Kiln, and the Carloway Broch all offer insight into what life on Lewis used to look like. Cheerful Stornoway boasts a charming, colorful harbor and several lovely restaurants and pubs.

An Lanntair is open from 10am Monday to Saturday for Breakfast, lunch, dinners, snacks and drinks. We have daily menu celebrating local food such as fresh seafood and black pudding. We also have vegetarian and gluten free options. Through the day AN Lanntair is perfect for families and friends to meet in a warm and welcoming atmosphere with a beautiful view over Stornoway Harbour. In the evening you can enjoy our cocktail menu and evening meals before or after a live show or cinema screening.
Stopped in for late lunch / early dinner before heading to the airport. One of the party was gluten free and although there was nothing on the menu they put something together with gluten free bread.
Food was very tasty with a good selection. Nice surroundings and service was friendly enough. Would definitely visit again if in Stornoway

This is a fantastic little Thai Restaurant in the centre of Stornoway serving very good Thai food. We chose the set dinner menu which was excellent value and all the dishes were made with fresh ingredients and were light and delicately flavoured. I would also commend serving staff who were was absolutely excellent and I would definitely highly recommend and use this excellent restaurant again.

We had a 3 course meal at lunchtime and it was excellent, right amount on your plate so you didn't feel that you had eaten too much. Good choice on the menu. Staff very friendly and welcoming.

We used The Boatshed Restaurant while staying on the Royal Hotel in Stornoway. The food and service is EXCELLENT. We ate both breakfast and dinner here. Breakfast has wonderful options, but one MUST go for the Stornoway Kipper, which is unlike any other kipper you will eat! I have attached an image here. We also ate dinner here, which was equally scrumptious, and one MUST go for the seafood, although the pork belly was cooked to perfection as well. I heartily recommend this restaurant for its excellent food and its warm service.

I thoroughly enjoyed my meal at HS-1. It was very reasonably priced and good quality ingredients were used. It is obviously a bit with locals and tourists alike as you have to either wait or book..no bad thing! The waitress we had was lovely and very cheerful. Some of the younger "hipster" waiters could do with a bit of a session at charm school but hey their "lads"...deffo a place to eat whilst visiting Stornoway or the Isle of Lewis!

This is a very good café for a light lunch or Coffee and Scones. The café is beautifully situated in the grounds of Lews Castle and we found the food to be very good quality and reasonably priced. Definitely recommend after a visit to the museum at Lews Castle.

We had another excellent meal in the lovely surroundings. They seem to have got over the conservatory being sometimes chilly. From the set menu we had a duo of salmon which was a tasty and elegant combination of pate and smoked salmon. For mains the roast and a venison burger. My only criticism would be that if you are weight watching then there are no obviously lower calorie options. Culturally on the Islands good food is seen as large portions so we get what we ask for I guess.

The cafe was busy and is a nice space for a snack. The views from the windows over the loch are great. The scone was fresh and quite large. I had a decaf coffee which was ordinary. There are much better coffees available for this price. The centre is convenient for the stones which are amazing. If the grass is wet it is very slippery. I nearly went flying.

This part of Scotland (and not only) was a huge SURPRISE to us.
Apparently not sensational, if compared to others in the country; but with a subtle charm that, little by little, gets inside… and you can never forget it anymore!
Loch Croistean Coffee Shop was one of those wonders: much more than just a coffee, A FULL-BLOW RESTAURANT, in the middle of “nowhere”.
The place itself is so PECULIAR, NICE AND COMFORTABLE; and the MANAGEMENT (great Marianne), couldn’t be more PROFESSIONAL AND FRIENDLY.
We went there on a Saturday night, so we had the chance to enjoy their 4-course dinner. Here it is:
APPETIZERS
Carrots and caramelized garlic Pâté
Tuna and feta cheese Pâté
Chicken liver Pâté
SOUP (cauliflower, potatoes and…?)
MAINS
White rice
Pasta with tomato, spinach and cheese
Chicken in coconut sauce
Fish and shrimps Pie
Boiled vegetables
DESSERTS
Banana and toffee Ice-cream
Cheesecake
Chocolate brownie with vanilla sauce
… oh my God, it was so difficult eating everything! But also so difficult refraining from doing that!
So we tasted everything, and the mains were AVERAGE TO GOOD; however, appetizers and desserts were simply DIVINE.
PRICE PER VALUE: VERY GOOD.
Good to know: the cafè doesn’t have licence for alcohol.
Cherry on top: after leaving the restaurant, a few miles from it, we found a group of dears pretty close to the road… So grateful for all those gifts!!!

I had the small Haddock supper and my husband the large, both were fantastic. Batter was perfect. Our daughter chose a Strawberry flavoured milkshake, wished i had got one myself after trying hers. The shop was busy but the staff coped well and were pleasant. Will return.
