We stayed for a night on a cycling holiday. Aigen is a very pretty place. The biergasthaus specialises in beer and my husband absolutely loved the beer. The management were efficient, welcoming and thoughtful. The room was modern and spotless with a large comfortable bed, and excellent shower room / toilet. We sat out drinking beer, looking at the beautiful scenery and eating delicious food ( huge helpings!). It was very relaxing and just what was needed at the end of a long cycle. There was a noisy group in the hotel overnight but we still slept well. Breakfast was very good with a variety of continental options ( and very good earl grey tea). I would happily stay here again at the first opportunity.

I'd stopped there for absinthe last summer. I had a good time. More photos and details on blog. Link in profile.

Tornero

The food in the restaurant was surprisingly good, we had pizza and hamburger, only sweet dumplings were a letdown - heavy and hard, I have suspicion that they were frozen before. The service was very good. They have outside Seating in front, but also in the backyard, where it is very quiet.

A creative concept of gastronomy and a certain influence of ,,Cuisine vitale" - that is how one might describe our creative aim and the certain ,,je ne sais quoi", which personifies the creators of the project. Our cuisine is international, complemented by modern lightened Czech gastronomy. The design of the interior and the service, the creation of a festive atmosphere, undivided attention and professional care from our personnel, unobtrusive compliments to our visitors - these principles are a whatchword for us, which we attempt to bear in mind as the host at all moments of contact with our guests.
Excellent indeed! We have enjoyed a delicious dinner paired with a beautiful Czech wine. The setup is very nice, cosy, yet classy and the staff very nice and attentive. Definitely recommending if the budget allows. Full dinner for 2 & wine can easily mount up in the range if 150-200 EUR. It was delicious indeed and we have enjoyed it but it does feel slightly overpriced. I looked online for the wine we had and it sells in retail for 3 times less the price we paid for it here. Also the bill included a 7% service charged (which is clearly stated upfront) but at the bottom of the bill it also says that tips are not included. This was a bit confusing. It still gets the highest mark as it does set itself apart from the other places we’ve eaten in Cesky Krumlov and don’t regret overspending by going there.

I found this the most-upscale restaurant in the region which is otherwise apparently determined by short tourist season and short-employed miserable cooks. Everything modern and clean, the food is good, service is nice and pricing adequate. I visited it few times in the past months and it was just bit unusual to be there almost alone in the winter time -- that is however symptomatic for the whole region, other restaurants may be even closed in this period.

If you want to have a very authentic experience, have dinner in one of the "Fassl". Service was excellent, waiter helped with translation of the menu. Food suburb .

Nice little place we found while roaming the Sumava Mountains. About 300m from the boarder also accessible by car. Beer, warm beverages, coffee, 5 soups, one main dish and sweets. Cool place to sit down for a small stop if your trekking in the area.
Owner was friendly, service was ok.
Only accepts euros, no credit cards or Czech crowns.
This is one of the last areas covered by the Cyech mobile networks. No WiFi here.

We ate after a long day riding in the cool misty rain. So we were hungry. But the food was interesting, tasty and hot. Devil fish was excellent. As was venison stew. The surprise was the fish soup. Very delicate. The only thing we did not love was the dumpling for dessert. But that was probably cultural. Lovely hotel setting with outdoor Seating as well as the warm dining room
