Torekov is a tinny fishing village with less than a thousand residents. We had delicious seafood platter in Hamnkrogen Torekov, prominently located on the hill opposite the town-hall. It came with lobster, langoustines, oysters, shrimps, mussels and crab claws. Plus three different sauces and freshly baked baguette to compliment the fresh catch of the day. The generous serving cost 895 Kr each (USD 120). Their wine and beer selections were extensive too. Everything was delicious except the crab was frozen with less tease. As it was on the eve of midsummer (one of the most important holidays here) , after our sumptuous lunch, we simply sit back, relax and watch the Swedish folks dance under the maypole. Many people were wearing wildflowers crowns (including men!), drinking and dancing with live folk songs and traditional music. 21st of June - the longest day of the year - is a good time to visit this little summer resort.

Hjo is a pretty small former spa town on the lake. This restaurant was busy and the service was slow. There is a fairly small menu, but for Sweden prices are reasonable. Wine by the glass is not terribly good, thin Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, etc. I opted for love beef, something I often order in a Sweden. It came with a salad and chips with parsley butter. The others ordered the same or pork in a cream sauce with potatoes. My beef was cold - so cold that the parsley butter did not melt. My son said his new potatoes were overcooked, having been twice cooked, but said his pork was 'ok' but not special. We felt the meal was 'all right' but not special and that the restaurant deserved 31/2 out of 5. I do not think we will hurry back. A pity as the location is nice.

This is the place to go if you look for authentic Swedish food and atmosphere. Stampens kvarn is a historic mill. They only serve buffet-style lunch - usually one dish with fish and one with meat - so maybe not the best place if you are vegetarian. We were hosted by very friendly staff.

This is a good place for a lunch. There is a simple blackboard menu and ingredients are wholesome and fresh. Portions are large. Their pizzas have a lovely thin crispy base and plenty of topping. They salads are freshly prepared and large, although my crayfish and prawn dish was a little tasteless. For Sweden prices are reasonable, The restaurant is unlicensed, but they have juices and coffee. I would return. I am told that the restaurant has limited opening hours so best to check before going.

A cozy cafe ice-cream of deliciously delightful Hjo port. We have both light lunch options and lovely dessert menus. Approximately 40 different flavors ice-cream to choose from but also milkshakes, pancakes, waffles, smoothies, barbecue sandwiches and really fresh healthy juices!
This place is totally awesome, been here a couple of times and you really have a lot to choose from. If you can't find a new favourite taste of ice cream here, boy you're in big trouble...

Mysigt ställe där maten och servicen är bra. Priserna på maten är helt ok. Även lunch serveringen är toppen. Ett måste att besöka när man är i Hjo.

Our large menu has something for everyone. Choose your own pizza toppings or one of our popular specialty pizzas etc.
Pizzorna är rätt goda, men väldigt snålt med pålägg. Samma gäller tex kyckligsalladen, mest sallad med lite kyckling till. Trevlig och välmött personal och fräscha lokaler.
