Original Indian Curries and Contemporary Street Food
12 February, 2017.
We patronised the Baoji restaurant as a part of our 11-12 Feb'17
official stay at the co-located Hotel Esse, Camp Chowk, Hisar.
The menu was quite extensive, but we went there at breakfast time.
Our booking had a complementary breakfast attached to the deal,
and we additionally requested the management to set up a hot
spread at 06:00 am, much before their official time. The request
was met with a smile, much to our pleasure. On the dot, we were
served fresh coleslaw sandwiches, warm butter toast, stuffed paranthas
with achar, and tea, all in good quantity. It was sufficient to carry us
through till lunch. The place is neat and clean, and tastefully decorated.
The official menu has a range of cuisines, ranging from Indian
snacks and meal items, Indian-Chinese, and Continental items.

In the small city of Hisar where we had gone for an official visit, we
decided to go out after our official work for the day was over.
We were directed to the Sun City Mall, a prominent food and
movies place in the city. The Chatori Dilli joint, it would be.
There were six hungry souls. Our orders were the following:
One mixed veg utthapam, three masala dosas, one dahi idli, one plate
baby corn fries, and one vegetable chowmein. The place has a
seating area in the vicinity of the various counters, each
associated with a different cuisine actually, a different outlet.
The place also has a separate dining hall, with some interesting decor.
The Seating area which we patronised, has colourful faux-wicker chairs. The
plates were also quite interesting, and the food, tasty!

We had gone to the small North Indian city of Hisar on official duty.
When free in the evening, we set out for dinner, but not before
going to shop for an Indian hot favourite, sweets. We were put up
at the nice Hotel Esse, Camp Chowk. We got the information that
We were close to an excellent sweet joint, Saini Sweets. I had
gone there to give my colleagues company, but fell for the
temptation myself. The joint is large, neat and clean, and some
varieties are rather unique. The sweet unique to the city is the
gajar pak, a tight version of the North Indian favourite, the
gajar-ka-halwa. This is more in the form of a darker block.
I also partook of the Rajasthani burfi, and the paan petha, a
white pumpkin-based sweet with the flavour of betel leaves.
The joint has a large number of savouries as well, though I gave
that part, a miss. The place is also adorned with photographs of
celebrities coming in, and savouring the experience.

Visited with my wife after a 5 hour long drive and the food helped us get over with the fatigue. The menu is quite wide spread and there is something for everyone. We ordered Vegetable Hot Garlic, Garlic Bread and a cottage cheese burger. All of it was fresh and hand crafted perfectly.
