Guadix (Spanish pronunciation: [ɡwaˈðiks]) is a city in southern Spain, in the province of Granada, on the left bank of the river Guadix, a sub-tributary of the Guadiana Menor, and on the Madrid-Valdepeñas-Almería railway. It occupies part of an elevated plateau among the northern foothills of the Sierra Nevada.

This place gets good reviews generally. We were a bit disappointed. It was modern and the food trendily served on black slates. We asked for steaks well done. They had to go back for more time. Maybe we should have booked a table but we were only in Guadix for a couple of days. They found a table for us in the cafe part of the restaurant. The restaurant proper looked really nice for those who had booked in advance. We wanted a bottler of white wine but just got glasses which were topped up when we weren't looking. Service was relatively indifferent. Smart spanish people arrived later and were welcomed quite differently. We left without taking a dessert. Maybe on a different night if we had booked ahead but in the circumstrances disappointing.

We were staying at a nearby hotel for three nights. We ate here on two occasions and both times the food and service was excellent. Very Spanish but we also enjoyed the English music being played through the speakers. Someone there likes Dire Straits!!
The tapas served with our first drink was amazing and was just like a free starter.

The place is just off Plaza de La Constitucion and is for me one of the best lunch tapa places in Guadix. Many restaurants/bars there do not offer much for lunch so Bodega Calatrava is a good place for a couple of drinks with nice tapas.

Meson -todo el tipo de carnes ,raciones ,ensaladas ,postres caseros . Comidas y postres sin gluten venta de jamones queso embutidos ...
We went here as part of a large group booking. Very pleasant atmosphere, really good steak. The dessert was a bit boring, being just a scoop of ice cream and some cream/strawberries, but when serving 40 people, you can understand it. Good service too.
Conveniently located by the motorway, outside the town centre, so you'll need to drive.

Stopped her for a lunch fill up before visiting the wonderful Cave Dwellers Museum.
Lovely calamari tapas and then we ordered a simple lunch. Our Spanish is very limited especially when it comes to ordering from set dishes but wanting minor changes. Our waiter had no English so we were somewhat anxious about what might turn up.... everything was 100% correct and it was all so delicious. Fairly simple food, nicely presented.
We haltingly asked how to get to the museum and a map was drawn on a napkin for us, then a tourist map was found. Our waiter couldn't have been more helpful.

This is a small intimate pizza restaurant, you can see the oven at the end of the bar and watch your pizza being created.
My wife had a tuna and spinach, I had a meaty one with fried egg! Both were very big and well cooked, and we had to ask for a takeaway box.
We ordered a bottle of house red and they gave us a free starter of smoked salmon and cream cheese on crusty bread. Excellent!
32 euros all-in and an excellent evening.
Highly recommended.

Driving from Granada to Denia, we decided to stop in Guadix for lunch. This beautiful town is well worth our future visit. We were so happy to find this resto, which made our stop all the more worthwhile. The food was excellent - lots of great authentic choices, many featuring Granadul's own jamones - which hang from the ceiling upon entering!

This is the place to go if you want a perfect traditional Spanish breakfast. The Churros and Chocolate are fab, but you can also have toast with various toppings. Various drinks are available, coffee, freshly squeezed orange, bottled milkshakes and lots of alcoholic drinks! I strongly recommend a bocadillo (toasted) with jamon serano, tomato and olive oil. Washed down with cafe con leche.
It does get very busy in the mornings and you may have to wait for a table and the service can be slow when busy. It can also get quite loud as the waiters shout the orders to the bar and kitchen staff. But we love the atmosphere there.
