You can't go to Christina Lake and not visit Kool Treat. It's a staple. They have a wide selection of ice cream to pick from and each year there's a fun new one for the kids (this years "hot" one was Shark Attack).
Prices are ok, Seating is outdoors and lots of it. But the feeling you've gone back to the 1950s is worth it.

Grand Forks is in an area settled in the early 20th century by Russian Doukhobors - a religious group which teaches pacifism and vegetarianism (among other things). When I am in the area I try to sample their delicious food - including borscht, which this restaurant serves. Good service, friendly folks, excellent food.

Sit on this lovely patio on a hot day, enjoy a hot appie and a cold drink and watch the lovely scenery and sniff the gorgeous plants around you. One of the most charming, beautiful patios in BC. Pleasant staff, a wonderful menu, and abundant flowers. I will return.

This stop is worth the effort. It was a pity we could not take the kids into the lower bar and restaurant as the atmosphere is better. Upstairs is tucked away and service has to me walk upstairs from the kitchen which cools the meals.
Kids portions are large so be warned. Burgers and Quesada's are good the soup outstanding - tomato & crab.
The Pale Ale was very good and the white "Mission" wine very good and recommended.
The place has history being a converted railway station.

Organic coffee daily lunch specials as well as soft ice cream smoothies and frresh baking
I usually always grab my morning coffee to go here when working in Grand Forks. Great coffee and I am more than happy to support a private small biz over the chain shops. I am never disappointed with my long shot Americano. I haven't tried any breakfast or snacks, so I can't comment on those.

Stopped in for mochas to take away for our walk around the city centre.
Great coffee shop with a very nice owner. She was sweet and friendly.
The outdoor side patio looks quaint.
Also they sell great little fire pits that we talked about making ourselves this summer. They're quite cool and inexpensive.

Great service and good simple food. We usually stop here for breakfast when we travel. The coffee is great and if you get there early they have a great Early Bird special.

50 yrs about! Wow! Still great hamburgers and shakes! I love that this business is still existing and thanks to the current owners for keeping a retro place alive like this. Tastee Freeze in Penticton and Ok Falls were super awesome but went defunct a few decades ago! Same concept so it makes me appreciate this place that much more. Hope they are able to keep up with time and keep the front looking inviting to stop in with fresh paint when need be etc.

On a recent trip to Christina Lake we decided to stop and grab a bite at the one and only pizza shop in the scenic little resort area. Glad we did! Not only was the pizza amazing, but they went above and beyond to accommodate my husband's and my totally different taste in pizza, as we weren't hungry enough for our own, and I originally started out thinking I only wanted "a bite" to tide me over....I demolished my whole side in record time! While it might seem pricey to some, the quality of the ingredients are impeccable, and there's a price for that...ever examine what goes on fast-order pizza from the chains??? And if we move to within Delivery area, I would gladly order what's required to meet their Delivery minimum, as I know the leftovers would be welcome and ready to be gobbled up the next day, no problem! This crust was awesome; toppings were generous, taste was amazing! And being local, the owners were beyond hospitable and were happy to answer any questions we had about the local area, as we are considering relocating to that vicinity. We will be visiting CL again, and we WILL be stopping by Marti's, without question! LOVE it!!

DQ or Tastie Treat? We chose Tastie Treat and it was tasty! Kids had bubblegum cones, and the old ones had a chocolate milkshake and a pina colada cone was perfect. Thank you Tastie Treat!
