We dropped by Hoto Fudo for an early lunch. We ordered their signature hot noodle soup and the zaru soba. The hot noodles soup was delicious and flavorful; the portion is big and perhaps is good for 1 person in this cold weather. Zaru soba was alright. Note that this restaurant has like only 1 or 2 meat dishes.

I've been in Japan 4 years and this is up there with one of the best places I've eaten at.
We all went for the pork hōtō and ordered some tsukemono too. They have different meat options on the menu including turtle, bear and wild boar. We kept it simple and the food was unreal. It's a bit expensive but worth it. The restaurant is within walking distance from the lake. They have an English menu and also a gift shop inside the restaurant. It was busy when we got here and they wouldn't accept any more people after us. Being told that they were closing towards the end of our meal was unprofessional and irritating too as we felt rushed.

The best place to visit during autumn/winter for a hot meal. We went during lunchtime. I had the Gyu-Hoto (beef udon noodle soup with loads of veges) is amazing. They even have vegetarian only options such as mushroom (which my wife had) or pumpkin Hoto.
What is particularly awesome is their karaage (fried chicken). Have tried karaage wherever I can and so far this place has the best seasoning. Tasty and succulent a must order to accompany your meal!
It was so good that we returned immediately the next day for lunch and ordered exactly the same dishes. The Waitstaff remembered us and even where we sat. Service was quick and prompt. Try it when you are in the area and you won't be disappointed.

As recommended by the hotel we're staying at, when took the bikes half way round the lake to arrive at the Houtou Fudou, North Kawaguchiko. Great bike ride, too, btw. The place is nice an rustic too, with some massive and unusual fish in quite a number of fish tanks. Well worth a visit, we thought.
The place was empty, which we actually like - feels a bit like private dining :)
We are vegetarians and of course opted for the local veg speciality, as veg Houtou, a local type of Udon.
Stunning it was. When it arrived, the waitress said it was "hotto" (hot). How sweet ... a hotto houtou :)
Very pleased! Will be back, if we're ever in the neighbourhood again ...

Japanese indoor BBQ on your own open fireplace. Very nice located in an old wooden house - very nice and attentive staff - food was very good and fresh. A truly special experience. Two adults and two kids are properly served with two full meals ( take a Fuji platter - it is great) - you can order BBQ items separately in addition. Try the local brew sake. Walking distance from the Mystays Fuji Hotel is 10-15 min. Thank you for one of our top eating places during our Japan-vacation.

Two of our Japanese friends took us here. This place is great for groups, unlike other Japanese restaurants.
The restaurant pretty much just serves the soup there, but you can also order raw horse meat as well. I don't like raw fish, but the horse meat has a totally different texture, so it was not bad at all. In fact, I would eat it again. The soup has a comforting feel to it. It is also delicious.
As the days get colder, this place will be a welcomed treat. The portions seem large, but you may find that it might not be quite large enough to share between two people unless someone is a really light eater.

We stopped by at this place as my son is a picky eater. The staff speaks great English, the burgers are amazing, and they have BLT Sandwiches, Hot Dogs, etc.

We were staying at Mizuno hotel just 5mins uphill from Konami so dropped in for dinner on our first evening. First impressions were a bit chaotic. It was very busy and the owner/manageress seemed overstretched (possibly understaffed that evening?). It took quite a while to give our orders but we had no urgent appointments so it wasn't a problem.
There's an English language menu (and also Chinese and Thai). We both had fish set dinners. I had the smelts which were excellent. A tasty specialty was the rice covered in a layer of tiny soft white fish - not exactly whitebait but similar. Very enjoyable meal!

This is in walking distance from Kozantei Ubuya Ryokan. The barbecue tongue is very soft and tasty. Never in my life I tasted this kind of tongue. We also ordered beef bowl and it is very good too.My other friends ordered its salad, it was so good that they ordered another same bowl. The place was quite full, but no lines at that time. we wait for 10-15mins. But probably you can ask hotel receptionist to reserve it for you because ours offer to do so which we refused at that time. It is one of my favorite restaurants throughout my Japan trip <3
