Ermesinde is a civil parish in the municipality (concelho) of Valongo, in continental Portugal, 9 kilometres (5.6 mi) northeast of Porto. The population in 2011 was 38,798, in an area of 7.65 km². It is the smallest by area, and the densest by population (approximately 5000 inhabitants per kilometer square).

„O PAPARICO“ Restaurant is a hidden gem in Porto. It is absolutely amazing in everyway from its interior décor and charming rustic stone walls, to its furniture and tableware design. Superb elegance and taste! For starters we chose oysters and steamed seasoned bivalve molluscs but dinner began with a warm tasty broth, followed by a set of appetizers which included a black eyed beans vinagrette, a type of codfish pasty, 40 years cured smoked ham and olive fois gras. All delicious and amazingly presented. Then came our starters’ order. The bivalve molluscs were well seasoned and the algae gave it a pleasant sea taste. In between came a “home” baked bread and “bôla” - absolutely divine... For main course we had the baked sea bream with a mixed tomato salad. Very light and tasty. For dessert we shared an egg designed dessert which was splendidly presented and tasted heavenly! Accompanying coffee we were presented with a sculpture that had three types of mini macarrons, all delicious (my favorite was the passion fruit flavoured one). The staff are very profissional and attentive throughout dinner. It was a very pleasant dinner with friends that turned out to be superbly amazing and exceeded our expectations! Very highlly recommend it for an amazing gourmet experience!

I have never met such a great team, the food was extremey good,i had the opportunity to taste almost all of their plates which were fantastic!!, the servers are sweet and extremely nice and all of the team has always been warm to us, offering us a real special treatment until the last day i was in Porto. I can say that it was one of the most wonderful experiences i have ever had in a restaurant!! :-). If there is a place where i could go back only for the gastronomy is Portugal, and especially Ermesinde and the fabolous and outstanding persons i have met there.

Rose and her mother and aunt are just all you need if you are travelling around and looking for a good meal. Try the shrimps as a starter and the sea bass rice as a main dish. It won't get any better than that. Fresh, tasty and served with a smile, let's put it in the Schwarzenegger way....I'll be back!

We are frequent flyers at Doce Alto situated in Rua de Constituição ( Next to Marques de Pombal metro station). We are given by the staff a friendly, professional and personalized serviced. They know how their frequent customers like their order, call them by their personal name etc. Their cakes and pastries are very good and is daily served at the tables of many satisfied customers. Congratulations to Doce alto team. Keep it up.

After many requests from my friends to book another "Tasquice" (visit to traditiona restaurants), I decided to go to Taberna do Centenário. It was my friend Batista who had seen it somewhere and was curious about it.
The experience started well with the phone call to book the table, friendly and helpful. They called me on the day to confirm everything was ok.
The experience was very very good. The food, mostly tapas, was excellent, the sangria is to "drink" for more. And the best news: not too expensive.
In the end they asked if they could take our picture to put in their site and recommended the steak and the "francesinha". So, we'll be back very soon, hopefully when summer truly arrives so we can sit outside and enjoy the food.

Excelent typical food and soups. Sandwiches with our moutain typical chese, thats gives an additional flavour. Traditional sausages also with excelent flavour.Good portuguese wines , And my favourite dark beer with a wonderful taste... It is certainly impossible to drink only one glass.Recommended!!!

For those that really appreciate a good hamburger...this is definitely de place. From the deco, the music, to the fried onion it is a good experience and fab hamburguers.
