I had the opportunity to visit the Durbanville hills for supper with my wife. The setting was romantic with a beautufull balcony where you can take a selfie at sunset. I had the fish for supper and it was exquisite.

The menu is vast - you have choices and options and more options with choices. The food is fresh and flavoursome without being pretentious. Pasta, duck, risotto, pizza, meat, etc, you want it you can have it. Portion sizes are fair and you will not walk out hungry. Wine can be ordered by the glass and many desserts available including fondant. The owners are in the dining area the whole time, thus you can ask them (and the waiters) about the menu and options. They know their dishes and describe it to the T.

Firstly ... I made a reservation via email and someone actually replied! :) The waiters are friendly, helpful and bilingual! Food was delicious. Very casual atmosphere, with roosters dining on all the lost little breadcrumbs. You can book a table inside or outside. Rustic laid back farm setting with hearty meals and platters. Award winning Altydgedacht wines at close to cellar door price.
We spent a lovely Friday afternoon at Eat at Altydgedacht in their bedouin tented restaurant (since it was a little cold outside). We were pleasantly surprised with the live music and lovely meat & cheese platters. Great start to the weekend. Loved it!

We visited "Die Boer" when Steve Hofmeyr performed the evening. What a stunning show and a real ambassador for all South-Africans. We are regulars and attend frequent shows. The ambiance and feel is typical "Die Boer" and you have to experience it for yourself. I had the "patat hoender" which is one of my favorites. Do not remove this dish from your menu as it is a favorite for so many customers. Julle maak ons so trots om Afrikaans te wees. This is a place where you belong and it feels like home.

We were a group of 8. I had fillet Rossini with peri peri liver topping. Ordered and received food medium rare, soft, succulent and tasty. 4 others ordered Chateaubriand to share, all said was amazing. A sole was also ordered and cooked to perfection. We took our own wine and no corkage charged. Service was very efficient. Overall experience very good.

We had a meal here somewhere towards the end of 2016 and I had been meaning to write a review. I got food poisoning from their food - never in my life had I ever felt so bad, I thought I was going to die! The wine was also terrible, and we couldn't have a conversation because it was so noisy. So overall, a terrible experience and I would never go back.

Situated in the Willowbridge Lifestyle Centre in the northern suburbs of Cape Town, this Hussar Grill is renowned for being one of the best restaurants in Durbanville. The restaurant's interior takes its cue from the trademark Hussar Grill design - traditional grill room combined with old-school dining. It offers a light and airy outdoor Seating area overlooking the green belt of the Elsiekraal River, where you can dine al fresco style in the warmer weather, as well as a comfortable and relaxed indoor dining section. The Hussar Grill Willowbridge is situated close to the Barnyard Theatre and is therefore an ideal venue for pre or post-show dinner.
After a week of just eating ftom the ocean, my wife and I decided to have a nice steak for a change. We refered to TripAdvisor for help and quickly descovered The Hussar Grill.
We were met by friendly staff at the door, and were seated immediately, since we booked in advance. However, we were taken to a bavk room that looked like an old library, quite small and overcrowded. The doors to the outside were open, but in the corner we were crammed into there was zero ventilation.
The tables were stacked so closely together that we could not have a personal conversation without the neighbors hearing every single word. As luck would have it, we got the loudest couple next to us and two old school friends behind us, and the only word they both knew and used, was f@#k.
Our waiter quickly entroduced himself, got us a round of drinks, then dissapeared! We had to ask another waiter to get the next round of drinks and before the next to please call our waiter so that we can order our food.
When you put on your menu the different ways you cook a steak (rare, medium rare, medium, etc.), at least have a griller that can actually grill.
I will deffinately return when in the area, hopefully to see some improvement.
