This small restaurant down a side street off rue de Paris (and the walking tour map) is small, tables are very close (typical in France). The service was excellent and we each ordered a pizza but could have shared one; I took a "doggie bag" home! Highly recommended!

The restaurant was exquisite. The selection of food was varied, and included a number of French & none French origin foods, which was presented well and tasted brilliant.
The restaurant is relatively small and has a nice family feel about it, and the atmosphere was brilliant, with everyone appearing happy and friendly (I don't believe there were any other tourists at the time).
The portions were generous, and we were all quite full by the end of the main course (without having a starter) but decided to have a small dessert as they looked very nice. The fondue was well prepared and used good quality chocolate, and I'd advise to everyone.
For 2 courses, beer and shared wine, it was just over 30 euros per person, which is a lot more reasonable than a number of places I have visited outside Douai, and we even got free shots.
The staff were very friendly and whilst not being fluent in English, know a substantial amount, so you won't have any issues with ordering food or drink. The waitress had a very positive influence on our evening, and so it was one of the rare occasions that I have tipped above 10%.
Would highly recommend! 5/5.

This little restaurant is opposite the theatre. It is quirky and very French. The staff seemed to consist of the manager and a single young waitress. Although they did not speak English they were helpful. When we walked in we saw a man eating steak and chips. It looked delicious and we decided to have the same. Good choice - it was tender and tasty. Both sauces: pepper and cheese, were very nice. Bit disappointed with the dessert. We chose ice cream, which we'd seen topped with Chantilly cream (like our squirty cream) but we didn't have cream on ours, and creme brûlée, which wasn't the best. Still, we enjoyed it and would probably go again.
The toilets are on the same level but a bit cramped and the ladies I'd right next to the open area of the gents, and you share a sink to wash your hands.

This place looks like nothing great from the outside but as soon as you enter you feel a warm glow in your heart - all down to the open spirited generosity of the owner who welcomes you like a long lost friend. He charmed the pants off us, and he greeted everyone who came in with enthusiasm - obviously regulars coming back time and again by the looks of things. The food was fine, if not exactly fine dining or to my taste actually (sauces on the St Jacques and escalope rather heavy for me, and didn't really like a pile of penne with the escalope - although husband chose well and enjoyed charcuterie and farmers escalope. Pizzas looked great going to other tables) So: food = good, decent, if average; service beyond compare. Owner gave us a bottle of wine to take home as a present. Open Sundays

Although we had eaten at Bistrot du Boucher in Amiens a few months previously, and had not enjoyed our meal, this branch of the chain was recommended by our friends, so we decided to give it a try. Our cheerful waiter was friendly, and keen to try out his English, although we are comfortable ordering in French. We both enjoyed our beef tartare, which was accompanied by vegetables and a glass of wine, followed by ice cream and fruit concoctions for dessert. Service was good - a most pleasant evening.

Pizza St Martin serves a decent selection of pizza and pasta.
The staff were very friendly but spoke no English which made things a little challenging.
All being said and done, the pizza is tasty and the portions are very decent. Drinks are pricey but standard for restaurants in this region of France.
The decor is certainly not standard pizzaria cliché bur rather very modern or possibly gothic if this is something you look for

Our hotel recommended this restaurant and insisted we booked in advance. It was very quiet when we arrived but quickly saw why booking is necessary. The food was very good and reasonably priced, service reasonably prompt and decor quirky.

We chose this place because it's nice to try something a bit different. We had a lovely evening. Friendly staff promote a Tunisian atmosphere. There are multicoloured tiles on all the walls, and the crockery etc is all part of the theme. The staff were cheerful, accommodating about our fractured French, and made the evening. The food is hearty, cooked well and authentic.

"Au Temps des Cerises" is an as welcoming as designed restaurant with affordable set menus ( Severals options : starter+main course or main course+dessert or starter+main course+dessert ), available on the menu, completed with a large wine list.Added to a quality service, a lovely view on the freshly restored place d'Armes is offered to your eyes.
