There can be no doubting the warmth of Kerensa's welcome and her ongoing attention. Michael's food at the Golf Club was also good.
However, we felt that this B & B did not match the comments made by other reviewers and indeed the article we read in the Telegraph.
Our room was on the first floor directly overlooking the pavement and the main road through Dornoch. Despite sash window double glazing and internal shutters you could hear passing traffic until quite late.
We also found the room itself somewhat cramped and the en- suite shower room dated.
The bed linen was clean but we prefer white pillow cases at least.
A pity because Kerensa was so helpful but 2 Quail needs to have some updating.

My wife and I were on holiday and decided to try this place. It was my wife's birthday and our last night of the holiday. Couldn't have picked a nicer place. What a gem. Lovely relaxed atmosphere. Wine from practically any bottle could be ordered by the glass.
The food was lovely. The calamari in tempura was cooked to perfection as it wasn't in the least but chewy. The scallops, prawns and chorizo linguine was the best I've tasted and they certainly didn't skimp on the seafood as some places do. The staff were attentive without being over bearing.

Stopped here today for a snack while travelling to Caithness, sorry wont be stopping again.
Just wanted tea and a Sandwich for me and my husband, you couldn't get just a Sandwich on its own, you had to either have salad or chips with it.
If you just take the Sandwich on its own you still get charged the same price. so we took it with chips, and asked for white bread.
Got brown bread which was hard and the chips were frozen ones, not great.
ordered a fudge slice....it tasted stale, not fresh.
The only good thing was the tea.

We have been visiting Dornoch for golf and walking for the last 5 years and always make a point of going here. Margaret is a great hostess and the food is always reliable. Would recommend the haggis Benbraggie and the Chicken Glenmorangie. Will be back next year.

restaurant above Dornoch Inn public house. Great food - lots of choices.
We had a quick lunch here on Saturday, we were served promptly, and efficiently by a friendly girl. the portions were generous, if not bordering on too much, but not for my other half who enjoyed the food so much he polished off half of mine! food was well presented, very very good chips!!!
Decor was quirky and liked all the exposed beams. (faux beams? not sure - either way lovely).
We asked the girl who served us for some local bits to do and she was really helpful and pleasant. would definitely go back.
Thanks!

Great fresh homemade food.
We enjoyed visiting this small patisserie in Dornoch. It is a small cafe with excellent cakes. The quality of cakes is excellent. The very best in this area. It is worth a detour.

The Eagle Hotel bar was quite noisy with sports on TV, they appeared to have a quieter room next door. The food and service was good.

We stayed at the Royal Golf Hotel for a week, just returned home. Their restaurant isnt listed on Trip Advisor. I can assure you it is full service, and is really good food. Please consider adding it, as they would appreciate getting the word out. Thank you.
A lovely, sunny evening in the Conservatory - overlooking the 1st and 18th holes of the Royal Dornoch Golf Course and the Dornoch Firth is only improved by the good service and food in the this restaurant - excellent local meats, seafood, produce are all well-prepared and presented - a good wine list adds to the pleasure - all making an excellent way to relax after 18 (or 36) holes on the world-class course.
