Since 1838 in the heart of the Karst region our old house boasts more than one hundred years of tradition in catering. Our restaurant is renowned for its hand-sliced dry-cured ham and typical home-made bread, for gnocchi with young horse-meat, jota with home-cured sausage, and of course Terrano wine, clear as a tear, produced in the nearby Karst area.

Fifteen years ago the restaurant put on its "old" Karst looks. This was done using mostly antique furniture, of course restored, dating back to before the Second World War, while old photos and postcards were hung on the wall, recalling the early years of the twentieth century.
A few years ago the farm building was renovated and adapted to new requirements, obtaining
7 comfortable rooms.
The space was extended with a Terrace, to accommodate even the largest organised groups. In summer visitors can relax in the garden, under the vines.
Extra attraction: children's play area, bowling pitch, carriage rides by reservation.

We offer:
72 seats in three rooms
60 seats in the Terrace and garden
hand-sliced dry-cured ham (Karst prosciutto)
home-made bread
the Karst jota (thick soup made from pickled turnip stripes or sauerkraut and potatoes)
home-made gnocchi
foal and horse meat dishes
game dishes
struklji (cooked rolls with cottage cheese and walnut filling)
seasonal menu
and a lot more.

Open:
Every day, except Monday, from 10 am till 10 pm
Monday closed
Went here because a lot of restaurants in the area were closed. Our starter (prosicutto and tomato/mozarella) were really nice. As a main course my boyfriend ordered fried potatoes, but received mashed potatoes. The waiter just said: "these are our fried potatoes" (which was definitelt not true). Furthermore we ordered mixed vegetables, but received a salad. The housewine was so-so. Finally this restaurant lacked atmosphere at all. Would not recommended going here, if other restaurants nearby are open.

In this gostilina service is good, english speaking, food was also good (ordered steak with truffle sauce and slovenian cheese for a starter). Only beer could have been better but I think in Slovenia it is better to try their wines. 4+/5 I would say and so is Hotel Malovec nearby which I also recommend.

We found a new place that we can try somewhere in Slovenia, the server came to inform about the menu for today, and we end up ordering tagliatelle seafood , and octopus salad, octopus salad was served plain and it's quite ok. My husband ordered gratinated canastreli and it taste good.3 appetizer and one main & we end up paying 49 euro.good quality.

This is a rather unimpressive restaurant. The inside is somewhat dated and dull and could do with a little modernisation. Having said that the prices are extremely low for the quality of food. This is sound cooking with quality ingredients and perfect for carnivores on a budget. Presentation was average to poor but our rabbit and venison very nicely cooked in tasty sauces. Lacking were the interesting sides that usually accompany game. Altogether there is nothing to criticise in the food and the prices are exceptional.

Excellent, excellent food, presentation, wine choice and kindness of the staff. With a pleasant, informal atmosphere, this restaurant offers a varied, simple, yet sophisticated menu with local ingredients. The meat is tender and delicious. The wine cellar includes the most expensive wines as well as typically local bottles that have nothing to envy the most famous ones. It is the ideal place for a family meal but also for an informal business dinner. The nice surprise is the bill at the end. The right amount for excellent quality.

I've been to this restaurant several times and the food has always been delicious. Everything on the menu is homemade, including the antipasti and all the desserts. My favourite was the spinach strukjli, although my cousin preferred the sweet version with ricotta and nuts. Many traditional Slovenian dishes are served, as well as pizza, pasta and calamari. Everything is made fresh, and prices very reasonable. It's a great place to stop on the way to Lipica or before you cross into Italy, if you're travelling west. There is a lot of Seating, so it would be good for large groups too. Nice patio to enjoy a glass of wine or a cold beer. I'd go back.

So say the Triesters in their dialect, which means you eat well & pay little. This is not a nouvelle cuisine, but the old style Slovenian gostilna, where you have always the same menu, but you can count on standard quality, with no volatility. What is important is also the quantity: their portions are for hungry people. Waiters kind and quick. Prices also for students!

Also A Guest House, Family Run Since 1770
We had a group lunch; fresh roasted veal, delicious fresh vegetables, soup, and a dessert of a light pudding with plums. All washed down with tasty wine. Very good and worth a detour. It is also close to the Lipizaner horse centre.
