Ideal restaurant to have a business lunch, free parking, authentic italian food and not too much decibels. I was able too enjoy the scallops pastery which was excellent. Would like to had a bigger portion but 'hey' you can't have it all.. :)

Visited the restaurant on a quiet Thursday lunch. Friendly waiter welcomed us, assigned us a table in a very rustic setting. immediately asked for drinks, appreciated, we were thursty. Ordered a nice starter, KOP met SAUS, already forgot what it was but it tasted excellent with a beer. So horse meat I hear you say, why? Well, because it's healthy, tasty and a typical dish in that great city of Vilvoorde. French fries hand cut, mayonaise home made, salad prepared at the table by our waiter and a perfect cut of meat, prepared as it should. I took the 200 g steak, was sufficient for lunch, noticed the owner's mother (and former owner i was told) enter the house and greet everybody, i saw all kinds of guests, old to young, trendy and traditional and I saw happy people, those that want a restaurant for its quality and smile, nothing fancy, fairly priced. I liked it !

Asian restaurants you can find by the thousands, Chinese being the pioneers in offering the flavor of Asian cuisine going back to the golden sixties. Nowadays other Asian cultures find their ways to our lunch and dinner tables. Thai, Vietnamees, Japanese, you name it. Chinese is common, like döner or pizza. So it becomes a challenge to find a Chinese restaurant that offers that slightly different approach, that touch of an unknown Chinese province ending with -ing, flavors we never tasted before. It is a true challenge to find an escape to the commercial european flat take away we find around the corner. Well, I was told Palais Imperial was one of those, at least a special one, not a regular one. So I went for lunch, saw quite some Asian executives there, good sign but left disappointed. It is a chinese like many other, around the corner.

I was more than surprised by some of the negative reviews posted here. Someone speaks about rude waiters - all the four staff members we encountered were exceptionally friendly, considerate and efficient. The menu with the chef's recommendations was exceptional in its inventiveness. I had a lasagna with pheasant and Belgian endives that was superb. Pheasant with Belgian endives is a staple of Belgian cuisine, and it's simply a great idea to combine this with lasagna. My companion had tagliatelle with minced meat of wild boar which were very tasty as well. Serenata has an attractive, warm interior with enough space between the tables to allow for a real conversation. OK, we only tasted two dishes, but this certainly was a visit that made me want to return.

This was my first time at this place. We were lucky to find parking right in front but there is a parking available walking distance. Ambiance, service, food were great but not much vegetables with the meat dishes. I will go again in the evening to try the superb garden with evening lights.

This (from the outside) inconspicuous restaurant seems to be a local favorite serving good ole Belgian dishes.
The meat balls in tomato sauce came in a solid portion with more than reasonable flavor, albeit a bit salty. The accompanying Belgian fries were OK too.
Service was slow but friendly. The bill including a cup of coffee and sparkling water came to 21.3 EUR.
Not exactly breathtaking, but good enough to experience what the Belgian cuisine has to offer.

I went here with my boyfriend as we wanted to have a fancy dinner for our Valentine's dinner. We don't live far from this place and we often pass this restaurant. We were curious whether this was a good restaurant as they're rather discreet regarding location&food quality.
We got a 3 course meal:
Appetizer: scampi tempura&cheese croquettes. Scampi was well cooked, delicious curry sauce, fresh veggies - fresh cheese and bread crumbs was crispy. Noticeably homemade.
Main meal: irish beef, which were of decent quantity and good quality meat. The potato croquettes were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.
Dessert: orange crumble&dame blanche. Crumble wasn't the best, with a raspberry sauce and fresh orange pieces but it was good nonetheless - dame blanche: good quality vanilla ice cream with some whipped cream from a can but still good.
Service was very good. Staff is very customer oriented and they were very attentive making sure whether customers like the food, recommending dishes, ready to answer questions regarding food, clearing up the table when something is finished, etc. We appreciated that the guy who seemed to be the manager was waitering the customers as well, and the fact that he seemed approachable and warm is very important to me too.
The fact that the waitresses turned the label of the drink towards the customer is a very important detail to me as it shows they got a proper training. It indicates that the bar is set up high and they're focused on qualitative service for customers.
Another detail: they take your coat and help you put it on when leaving the place. It might seem like nothing, but it's cortesy that is not being seem everywhere nowadays.
Overall, I was very pleased with my dinner here, I'll come back for sure and will recommend it to my fellow foodies-friends.

Was invited by my business partner for a short meeting during a stopower in Brussels airport.
Very close by and nice environment. Tables rather small but food was delicious. Beef tartar properly spiced according to the colleague and my beef excellent. Asked for medium rare and it was picture perfect.
Ok pricing... less than in downtown Brussels.
