A classy and relaxed restaurant in a classic 19th-century house, facing the beautiful Koningin Astrid Park. Family owned since 1989. Old fashioned Belgian cuisine - light jazzy background music. Menu formula´s only. ( No " à la carte") Booking advised through restaurants´website. Bon appetit !
I was in Bruges with my father and partner for my birthday weekend. I booked a table for my birthday dinner on the Friday night.
We arrived at 7pm and were met by Axel and his wonderful team. We had a lovely corner table in the elegant dining room and were very well looked after,
The 4 course set menu with accompanying wines (or beers) is compulsory at weekends. There are 3 or 4 choices for each course - check out their website for the details.
We were first served a glass of pink sparkling wine and an amuse bouche of smoked salmon - delicious.
With each course we were served a glass of selected wine, although you could chose if you preferred red or white. I was served a chardonnay with my scallop starter and was a little perturbed, as I don't normally like chardonnay - at all! However, I was reassured by the server that the wine was delicious, and it was actually delicious!
I now know a chardonnay that I can drink (I made sure to note the name!)
Wine glasses were topped up as we ate, so we certainly got more than one glass per
course. The staff were lovely and very helpful, and Axel was charming - a very attentive host in the nicest way. He made sure everyone in the restaurant was well looked after. There were several people celebrating with a special meal.
As it was my birthday they served a little trio of tarts (one each) with a candle for me to blow out - a lovely touch.
The food and wine was all top quality, and the service impeccable. Next time we are in Bruges we will definitely be back.
Thank you Axel and the team.

We stumbled across this restaurant bistro when staying at a b and b nearby. It is a real gem -busy with local families and couples on a Saturday evening. Welcoming and friendly young staff and accomplished cooking. We had both fish and game - the smoked eel and the wild duck were excellent. Nice to see simple local ingredients prepared with flair. Very pleasant dining experience. Recommended.

De Zuidkant is well versed in the ABCs of fine dining - attentive service, beautiful food and charming setting. Damme is an idyllic backdrop for enjoying the delicious food, beautifully plated by the chef and presented by the front of the house. The staff was welcoming and gracious throughout the service and even beyond. We had ridden our bicycles to the restaurant unaware of the impending four hour downpour. We were treated as welcomed guests until the rain abated sufficiently for us to leave. They even gave us towels with which to dry our dripping bikes. We left with a wonderful feeling in our minds as well as ou

It was raining cats & dogs outside, so we popped in to eat a pancake and enjoy the fire place. The place was packed!! So we had to wait for a while and after a couple of minutes a table was ready for us. One of the waters working there ignored us completely. Why? We have no idea. He refused to come to our table, give us the menu or even take our order. We had to wait for 15 minutes so that another waiter came to our table to note our order and another 30 minutes to get our food. Meanwhile, that one - unfriendly - waiter had a fight with the cook, because he was drinking beer and disappeared to the back of the restaurant to have a smoke. While the restaurant was packed with people!!!!
We have been there before (beginning of this year), but now after this, we will never go back again!

Both families have been coming here for years and know the family well. Great belgian food in a lovely local setting. Friendly service, local fresh ingredients and cool features like open grill in the restuarant for wood fired meat dishes. Recommend the pheasant or eel. Now also brewing their own beer which is really good!

A great cafe where the food is tasty and well priced. A great selection of cakes and they have English menus too for those not too sure of their Flemish translations.
Friendly staff and clean toilets. There is a lovely area out the rear to eat too.
Well worth a visit.

We propose a fine seasonal Flemish / French cuisine by Chef Gregory Slembnrouck whose inspiration is lead by high quality, fresh market produce. His second home is certainly his stove, where he spends most of his time there creating and working his culinary magic to obtain the perfect gourmet statement for each guest that is both royal in presentation and abundant in taste. Each plate offered at Le Mystique is proof of Chef Gregory's refined culinary expertise, which showcases not only his extraordinary love for food, but as a master of his craft he is constantly preoccupied with balancing his inspiration for new presentations, his flow of creativity, and his incessant quest for continuous quality. You can fully enjoy this exquisite cuisine in a perfect balance between cost and quality, in the unique historic room in the hotel dating back to 1869 by choosing for one of our original menus 'Flavours of the region', or simply by ordering your favourite dishes à la carte.
Situated within the Heritage hotel, this is a ridiculously romantic dining room. Period furnishings and chadeliers of the baroque period/style. Excellent service- discreet yet very attentive. The food was wonderful. High end French cooking but with an International reach in terms of ingredients and dishes available. Quality fresh ingredients presented extremely well on plate. Top end pricing but this is a quality and memorable dining experience.

This is our 4th visit here . We try to visit Bruges every year & always book Pro deo. Nathalie always welcomes us and remembers our names! Considering it’s only once a year we think that’s really amazing. The food is excellent & menu not too vast. We do go to other restaurants as well but this little gem is the best . We found that the main course is very filling & we don’t always have a starter! Flemish stew is always a winner , but we have tried many other dishes ...all excellent. Hats off to Kristophe & Nathalie

In Bruges there aren't that many Italian restaurants, let alone Italian restaurant with authenthic quality food. At 10 minutes form Bruges there is Il Sorisso della Nonna which can make this promise come true.
The setting isn't that spectacular. Away from the center of Damme but not located at the beautiful open polder and canal-scenery. It is practical though with a parking and inside and outside tables. The decoration is rather plain.
The hospitality of the lady of the house is just as I like it. Sincerely friendly and spontaneously but not to pushy. Not the artificial friendlyness you find in most restaurants.
The food was really delicious. I had the spaghetti al ragu and a pizza with salami. Both were of the best I ever had. I could elaborate, but you better find out for yourself.
