Called in early on a cold winter night...the cafe looked inviting although I was just after ice cream. The place was busy, lots of happy looking customers in the cafe and in the shop where not only ice cream but also high quality chocolates and other sweet treats were on offer. I can officially confirm that the Xmas pudding flavour and the pistachio flavour ice creams were delicious (no, I did NOT have both merely a lick of my companion's for Tripadvisor reasons!). The staff seemed very pleasant, acknowledging regular customers and waving to small children. NOTE - they actually VEGAN ice cream...well done.

Staff were really friendly and accommodating as we had driven from Glasgow to meet friends but were very early. They got us seated and brought drinks over and made us feel comfortable and relaxed. The restaurant was warm, cosy and inviting.
Once our friends and their two year old arrived, the great service continued. The children's menu was varied and they were able to bring the food out with our starters to keep everyone happy.
The food was beautiful. Some traditional options and also some with a twist like the vegetarian haggis in coconut curry sauce. Something for everyone.
Everyone enjoyed it and there were no complaints. Will definitely be back at some point.

The Melville Inn in Lasswade is a country pub & restaurant oozing rural charm and rustic character. Our picturesque surroundings provide the perfect backdrop for savouring the hearty, seasonal pub-food on our menu, and the carefully nurtured cask ales and fine wines gracing our bar.
I went for lunch with my friend and I thought I’d give the Melville Inn a go even though it wasn’t great last time.
I’m actually shocked at how bad it was and how not one member of staff asked us “how it was”. I asked for a steak Sandwich and it’s only 4oz of steak so how could more than half be fat!!! Yuck so I ate chips, bread and onion rings and left about 75% of the steak at the side. I didn’t moan as my friend was paying and I felt rude. She told me outside that she ordered a chicken pie which was uncooked and tasteless and her triple cooked chips were really bad. (Go to the stair arms for triple cooked chips, learn from them). And yes we should have discussed it inside but we didn’t.
Desserts were okayish. We were laughing at the cm of custard in the jug, I bake so I can go by eye and it was about 60ml and it caused us to laugh, good job you got a spoonful of ice cream. The apple pie was good and the biscuits that came with friends desert could break your teeth.
We went to pay and still not asked how it was? £30 and not worth it
I love reviewing everywhere I go and I always see the good but I just couldn’t see it yesterday.

The Cavaliere Ristorante & Wine Bar has been established in 1968 by the Crolla family. We offer an excellent range of Italian dishes, from a pizza baked in our wood-fired oven, our home-made pasta selection, steaks, chicken, veal to our wonderful fish specials. We use only the finest ingredients- many of them imported from Italy. We pride ourselves in giving the highest quality of service to all, with our passionate team. Voted best place for dinner in the 2017 Midlothian food and drink awards, come give us a try - you won't be disappointed!
Found via TA and worth the 2 mile round walk from the local Premier Inn. The deceptive interior is very authentic and unexpected. Service was very good and the maitre d was excellent. Garlic bread was as expected in an authentic Italian venue. Seafood spaghetti was packed with seafood and very tasty. However, the ravioli special with haggis and finished in a whisky, chicken & mushroom sauce was sublime. Very highly recommended all round.

Had a wonderful lunch today at the Bombay lounge , never realised we had such a great Indian restaurant on our door step, first impressions were great ,warm friendly greeting, staff were fast efficient and friendly , nice to see staff so happy at work , all the guys were smiling and chatting away, food was of a very good standard , opted for the lunch deal , starter, main , tea or coffee all for £7.50 a head we had the korma and the Malayan curry which were both absolutely amazing, Nan and rice between us and the chicken kebab and chicken pakora to start , your starter arrives with your main , in my opinion this is a fantastic idea and saves time if it’s tight at lunch time , the decor is really nice and feels really authentic with the mix of Indian music playing, the place is cleaned to a high standard, I would recommend this restaurant very highly, disappointed that I hadn’t tried it sooner , will definitely return.all the staff were great especially Jubs Hussain thanks again.

My first time visit and we brought 3 generations of the family. I liked the setting with a proper bar area you walk through to be seated for meals. Pleasant but dark decor where we sat but there is a conservatory for brighter Seating. The staff were attentive and hard working. The food really tickled my taste buds in the most amazing way.
From the Burgers, us lads were eating to the amazing fish n' chips the kids were eating via the lovely roast dinner mother-in law was eating. I intend to return on a regular basis.... the wide already wants to return in a few days lol
