It was about mid-afternoon and we were looking for a restaurant. Many of the restaurants seemed to be closed for the rest of the day.
We found Restaurante Baliza and when I saw the TripAdvisor excellence certificate, I recommended we try it although it seemed they were just winding down from a busy lunch period and staff were getting ready to have their lunch. But they all came to attention when we went in and sat down. Even the couple who I assumed to be the owners stopped eating and took care of our group.
I ordered the seafood rice and soup and I was not disappointed. I found the dishes tasty. My friends ordered some pork and chicken dishes and they, too, were satisfied.

Extra !!

The restaurante is located in Esmoriz, a small fishing town. Amazing portuguese food and service. The restaurant has a confortable atmosphere and can also cater for big groups.
From Monday to Saturday they have special menus at great prices.
When in Esmoriz or near by, dont miss it.

Nice place, food is good and portions are good.
presentation is good. I had the cod with corn bread and the veal and it was good.
The restaurante decor is also good, at least not that typical look of Portugueses restaurants with poor decor. Service was good and fast.

We have dined at D'Auora for quite some years... and returned with a group of friends.
You can not go wrong at this restaurant.
Incredibly fresh fish and seafood cooked to perfection. We love the Açorda... which is a very traditional Portuguese dish to use up stale bread... (don't be put off by the sound of that... its wonderful). Seafood rice is amazing.
The meat dishes are also fantastic.
D'Aurora enables you to push the boat out with Lobster... Crab... and Percebes... known to us English as goose head barnacles. in the UK they cost a fortune... and if you saw how they are picked... you will know why. they are a fraction of the cost in Portugal, so if your adventurous.. this is the place to try them.
Hold the base with one hand, twist and pull off the barnacle head with the other and slide off the flesh between your teeth... delicious salty fresh taste of the sea.
wash them down with a glass of Vino Verde.
Also recommended... grilled Lulas, octopus starter & the huge green lipped mussels
Lastly - a quick word about your host...Amadeu is a wonderfully warm and funny guy. Loves his restaurant, loves his customers... loves his job.
D'Aurora is highly recommended... also visit the bar next door!

I end up in this restaurant by accident and it was a very good surprise. Nice traditional Portuguese food with a good dining room. The kitchen is completely open and immaculate clean. The wine list together with the sympathy of the owner Jose Manuel make this visit worth to repeat. The prices are very cheap.

Monday July 11, 2016 stopped in for dinner. As soon as you arrive at your table you are presented with chouriço (Portuguese sausage), Feta cheese, miniature toast, baby tomatoes...FYI if you start to grab the irresistible appetizer just remember you will be paying that at the end. Bread and butter is also an extra.
I recommend the bife folhado with cogumelos, it also comes with chips. The mushroom sauce was light simply divine. The sangria was an excellent choice to accompany the amazing entree.
Their prefixed lunch is 6 Euros per person which you can choose between meat or fish. They serve soup, main entree and coffee (espresso).
I can't wait to try their lunch, looking forward on going there soon.

If you wanna try local portugese food, this is the place to go! The family running the restaurant are the sweetest and most generous peolpe. We got excellent service and more food than we needed for a very very decent price. As a finisher they insisted on giving us a taste of their portwine .. for free, as poor students that's always a pleasent surprise

Good Portuguese food made with experience. The price is good taking i account the taste and amount of food. Only the location is not good, its hiden and not fast to find.
