TripAdvisor is a great guide to finding hidden treasures but you always worry that things are either exaggerated or have changed since the review. Well this restaurant is number 1 for good reason. Great service, food quality and ambiance. Could not recommend it more highly. It made the perfect end to a day's racing in beautiful Compiegne.

This restaurant may not be on a main road, but it is certainly worth the stroll! Only a minute or so away from the main square. They serve French Colonial food from the Antilles, so we had or fair share of grilled gambas with mango, or crab with papaya. The dishes were of a high quality, and the fixed-price menu offered sufficient variety to compelling the both of us to just go for it. For desert, there was unlimited acces to a Cart with all sorts of cakes and sweets, containing passion fruits, coconuts, anything. Plus they had all kinds of antillian punches and cocktails. It's not a budget place, but it's definitely not expensive and well worth the price!

Why did we love this restaurant? Because of the quality of the seafood and the wonderful cheese and dessert trolly's. Great old fashioned quality for a reasonable price. Now, after renovation, the Coquilles St Jacques (not in the shell!) are disappointing; no beurre blanc but a brownish fluid. Of the voluptuous cheese plateau only a few small pieces remain and the dessert trolly.. where are all those dilicious chocolate gateaux and fruit tartes? We have lost an illusion...

Charming surroundings and friendly efficient service. Food excellent. Carpaccio of tête de veau, delicious steak perfectly cooked, and painperdu with caramel sauce to finish. Lovely glass of Medoc with the steak. Faultless. Suggest book table in advance, they were full on this Sat night.

In the centre of Compiegne, you can find this restaurant. Looking at the menu, divers (fish-meat) tartar preparations and seafood are their specialty.
But the reason why I won’t forget this restaurant was the very inexpensive wine list. We had a bottle of Ruinart brut, for only 55€! Bollinger, Veuve Clicquot and several others were similarly priced!

This was the second time I have visited L'Endroit and both times I have been I have been impressed. It is a small restaurant but the menus are great value and the dishes imaginative enough to get the taste buds working overtime. A limited but very adequate wine list complements the menu choices. Book in advance because it really is quite small.

The restaurant is in a charming, old, small country hotel furnished with interesting antiques. There were five of us and were late due to the graduation ceremony but we were welcomed by the charming staff who were attentive without being intrusive. We all chose the set menu that gave us two choices for each course. The two amuse bouche were a great start. These were followed by either a mushroom velouté or foie gras, both mouth-watering. For the main course we all had "Filet de Biche" the most tender deer fillet. This was followed by "Crème de Brie and Sorbet Balsamique blanc" - what a great combination, the sorbet of cheese and Balsamic vinegar was a first. We finished with a creamy pear dessert. The wines were good but expensive. Coffee and petit fours were taken beside a roaring fire. What a good choice for a celebration.

Nicely balanced spices, friendly service, beer expensive (but standard for France), reasonable portions.
English speaking manager, if needed.
I think 4 out of 5 is maybe pushing the rating, but the quibbles are minor. Cold plates, being the major issue for me. Nans were good, and as I already said the spices were well balanced.
Probably not a restaurant for people who want a fiery curry, but ultimately too much chilli kills all other tastes, and you can't tell if you are eating good quality or not.
I'd say the quality on offer is what to expect at the price.
Recommended.

Very small restaurant right in the town centre, seemed to be frequented mostly by locals. We received a warm welcome. The owner, who also cooks the food and bakes the marvellous pastry, manages to come out to chat because she knows many of the guests. Very good food served unpretentiously. Superb patisserie. Simple quaint decor, cosy ambiance, very reasonable prices.

Nice place with good food and wine, not so cheap but very good quality! The service is also very good!
