Comala (Spanish [ko'mala] (help·info)) is a town and municipality located in the Mexican state of Colima, near the state capital of Colima. It has been nicknamed the “White Village of America” as the facades of the buildings in town have all been painted white since the 1960s. The historic center of the town was declared a Historic Monument Zone and the town became a Pueblo Mágico in 2002. It is the municipal seat of the Comala Municipality, the local governing authority for over 400 other communities, including the former Nogueras Hacienda, the home of artist Alejandro Rangel Hidalgo.

Don Comalan is patio restaurant on Plaza Principal ( Benito Juárez) in Centro. We picked here for lunch based on TA reviews and a recommendation from a nearby shop owner. Not busy when we arrived and we sat on the outdoor patio (there is inside Seating too) facing the lovely lush square. The restaurant is on the north side of the square so unaffected by the hot noonday sun. Ordered drinks and before they were delivered the first of three rounds of free appies arrived, each round were different, all we ate were good. After two we said no more as we were full. All we paid for was the drinks (and tip). Nice location, good service, washrooms clean, cash only. According to our taxi driver (who delivered us from Colima), the free appy service is typical for the area. We enjoyed our lunch here.

the only place I've been where someone brought their food (from Tucrepa next door which also makes great food) and then purchased drinks. the cazuela with fresh fruit and juices was excellent. a little Tequila made it even better.the ribs were nice and dry, with surprisingly few bones. We would retuen any time we are back in Comal

Good fare. Good value. Great collection of tribal masks from the deceased artisan Candelaria. Eat either under roof or outside. Hot local grown coffee served.

I lived in Comala for a year, and El Fogon was my favourite place to eat. In fact, I just found a hand-written recipe for the best tatemado in Colima, given to me by the owner... I recommend the food, and the patio overlooking the river.... Watch the steps down! A mug of cafe de olla, tatemado, of one of the giant breakfasts cooked in a comal, the pottery cookware Comala is named for... Fresh orange or mango juice... Everything is delicious. And the people couldn't be nicer. xx

Menú Amplio y con rico sazón. Atención grata y ambiente agradable. Todo nos gustó. Pedimos
Pizzeta y ensalada Serrano
