At the top of Bavaria and dating back to at least the 11th century, Coburg sat undiscovered by many late 20th century tourists, surrounded as it was on three sides by the former East Germany. The town’s main attraction, impossible to miss since it overlooks the town, is the 13th century Veste Coburg Castle, one of Germany’s largest and most beautiful. Sometimes called the Franconian Crown, today it’s home to three museums. Reformer Martin Luther, then an outlaw, spent five months here in 1530.

TripAdvisor bought us here and boy was it spot on. Location, decor, atmosphere food and service all amazing.
We had the spargel soup with prawns, spargel with coburg sausage and potatoes. All were cooked well and tastes amazing. Had a lovely chocolate baked pudding for dessert. All for a reasonable price. Would not hesitate to visit again. Nice konig pilsner on tap too.

We experienced a very enjoyable dining experience with excellent service and wonderful conversations with the chef! A popular restaurant, so Reservations are recommended. The chef’s started us with an amuse Bouche of whipped goat cheese on speldt bread, pumpkin seeds & peanuts. I started with the winter salad that had many different fresh lettuces which included mache, endive & radicchio, plus fruits & nuts. I then had a Vegan dish of roasted potatoes,
chestnuts & parsnip under Brie,
Sauerkraut, pomegranate, but the
Mushrooms were the star of the dish, delicious.
My boyfriend ordered the Schlemmermenue. Starting with an excellent Parsnip soup, sliced black truffles, & savory julienned pancake croutons.
The main was male baby deer
in a tasty rich sauce. The meat was very tender although the bigger pieces were a little dry.
Dessert was a homemade coffee ice cream with additional bites.

Whether the typical German Stammtisch, students, couples, families... This place just suits everybody.
It's a rather old place with a never changing charme. Staff is very helpful (speak English too) but a bit "confused" once in a while. Food is great and they have great variety, coming from wraps, burgers, curry, chilli, etc. Prices are very decent. Kitchen is a bit small so don't expect your good coming the same time as your friends.
Music only in the background, but chatting fills the small room quickly. But it's rather comfortable than noisy.
All in all a great place to hang out, with a lovely beer garden in the summer!

Situated across from the Landestheater, just off of the main pedestrian zone, sits Kunstlerklause. We began the night with a beer outside, listening to opera singers practicing/warming up in the building across the road. As it was nippy, we moved inside to find a very cozy restaurant where we had our dinner.
The meal we ordered was typical schnitzel (pork), which was served with a small salad and potato salad. We were disappointed with what was delivered to us, as the schnitzel breading was more like a batter (it all came off at one point), and the potato salad had many pickles in it, which we are not huge fans of. While the meal disappointed, the actual building and location was nice which is rounding our review up to an overall average.

After being awake for the better part of 29 hours, my wife and I chose this restaurant for the opening night dinner of our Central Germany vacation. Boy, were we not disappointed. Lovely vaulted ceilings, whimsical "clutter" give this place a wonderfully warm charm. My wife ordered the pork schnitzel, I ordered the Jagerschnitzel. Both were accompanied by a lovely "salad" of carrots, lettuce, tomato, cucumber and assorted cabbages, plus a perfect sized portion of French fries. The pork in both the dishes was tender and perfectly breaded, but the real winner was the incredible mushroom sauce covering my dish. Wow was it good. We tasted the house Riesling and a local Franconian white wine which were perfect with our entrees. Service was friendly and efficient. Dinner was 29.60€.

Having booked a room in the hotel that contains the Victoria Grill, I opted for a dinner here . The menu , internationally styled with soe variations also on local ingredients , has a deep attention to quality ingredients . Good and efficient service, clean decor, I had a caesars salad and a cheeseburgers, very easy ..
What a surprise to have them both perfeclt prepared and served with wonderful dressing for the salad and great meat for the burger coing with crispy fries.
The wonderful potato bread served before the meal completed what it was a surprising good dinner even if played on american themed dishes. If they can serve salad and burgers like that , it means they can be good at anything. Well done and rightly priced for what and where you get .
Highly recommendable

I had the Seelachsfilet (Pollock) and it was very good. The service was excellent. The prices were reasonable. They offer fish and meat dishes. When I was there, they offered homemade dumplings. There is outdoor Seating when the weather is warm enough, but it's nice inside, as well. There wasn't much traffic on the road when I was there, which was very nice. It's worth stopping by just to see the building!

Our drinks we refer mainly from small factories behind which people are who have realized their ideas with passion and a lot of passion. Our food is freshly prepared and all our products are carefully selected. Depending on the season they come in part from our own garden. We are pleased to welcome you to our local and allowed to host.
This is a quiet little place in the centre of Coburg. The concept is simple: a very small menu, one soup, one salad, a fish dish, a meat dish and a vegetarian option. The food is cooked freshly in what appears to be a very small kitchen. A lot of the ingredients seem to be locally sourced and the drinks are at least partly from small artisan producers.
Although the dishes on the menu would not have been what I would order elsewhere, our food was tasty and enjoyable. The service was fast and friendly and although we didn't rush, or feel rushed, we were in and out with two courses and coffee in an hour.
I would recommend it but make sure you book a table as it is quite small and busy.
