Fourth time here and not one disappointment. The food is great, another level in comparison to any other restaurant in Melbourne. The service fantastic and professional with some of the best Italians in Australia. The owner is a careful and caring person, always there, for anything you need. If I could I would come back tomorrow

Housed in an elegant triple-fronted Victorian Terrace, past the bohemian enclave of Melbourne’s famous ‘Brunswick Street’offering seasonal contemporary Australian cuisine and professional hospitality since 1994.Awarded a minimum of 1 hat in the coveted “Age Good Food Guide” every year since 1996.
For our wedding reception in October 2017 we chose Matteo's - we've always loved our experiences there, and measure all our culiinary experiences by this establishment. With only 30 of us, we booked the Venetian room, and as it was lunch on Saturday, they opened just for us and we had the place to ourselves, so our best man could serenade us with his acoustic guitar.
We had asked for our guests to be greeted with a glass of bubbly, a beer or soft drink on arrival, and we were pleased to find that they had opened the back room for guests to mingle before being seated - we hadn't expected this!
The Venetian room itself was laid out beautifully, and one of our guests reported "this is the best food I've ever had at a wedding!" Service was attentive but not intrusive; the courses came out at perfect intervals; it had been no problem at all to modify the menu to remove all nuts (to cater to our guest with a nut allergy); instead of either the drinks package or open wine list, it was no problem for us to give a short list of 5 wines for our guests to choose from; in short, nothing was too big an ask.
We have already returned with a smaller group of 6 on Christmas Eve, and we will continue returning to Matteo's to celebrate our special occasions. We could not recommend this place more. If you haven't been, you must go soon!

I love Tibas. It is a Sydney rd institution and is simply fabulous. Cheap, cheerful and authentic. The falafel is delicious, lamb cutlets are awesome as well as the spicy sausage. They even do gluten free tabouli now! Would recommend getting one banquet meal between 2-3 people as the servings are huge. Always a go to and they are open late.

Experience Melbourne’s finest Middle Eastern dishes along with fresh vegan options at Rumi Restaurant. This Middle Eastern food place is known for its flavourful halal chicken recipes, Persian meatballs, freshly made salads, and much more. Rumi’s passion for providing wholesome food can be seen in their savoury combinations of Lebanese and Turkish food items. The restaurant even has appeared on ‘Food Safari’, another certification of its undoubtedly delicious taste. Plan dinner with your friends and family or even parties with Rumi. Reserving your table is just a few clicks away. Visit the site to know more.
A great place to share fabulous Middle Eastern dishes with family and friends. Started with variety of dips then stacks of shared smalls and mains - spicy chicken wings, meatballs, eggplant, lamb (fantastic) and more. Wine and cocktails a winner too. Upmarket place with friendly vibe. Every table on our night was having a great time. Plenty of parking in side streets.

This place is 5 mins from our house, needless to say it's a regular on Sat afternoon when we are juggling the kids at several different sporting events:) it's cheap and cheerful. Really tasty Lebanese food, always served quickly and you know it's fresh. Highly recommend it for a quick eats on the run.

A colleague put me onto this restaurant and it was great.
The entree was to die for. Cannot remember the exact name, but it was a shaved meat/charcuterie dish with buffalo cheese and Parmesan cheese. That was absolutely enough for me and 2 other of my table as it was magnificent!
But then onto the mains....
The Dry aged beef was incredible. My cut was rib eye on the bone 'rare' and it was incredible. Cooked to perfection.
I didn't have dessert, but of the 5 of us, 4 did. Three had Tiramisu and wait for it - they bring out the biggest bowl of all time and give the biggest piece possible.
All said it was amazing.
Total cost with entrees, main meal and 4 (of 5) desserts was incredibly reasonable for the quality of food and 3 bottles of wine.
Not for kids at all and was very surprised they did not cater at all for vegetarians.
Definitely will go again.

Hellenic Republic is a traditional Greek taverna with a contemporary twist - perfect for modern Melburnians! Our food philosophy is simple – fantastic, fresh produce to prepare traditional recipes in a clean, contemporary style. At Hellenic, kefalograviera saganaki is served with sweet peppered figs; local wines are served by the half litre and succulent meats are cooked over char coal.We recommend our Trapezi menu as the best way to dine at Hellenic Republic, where our chefs prepare a selection of our finest dishes for guests to share. The restaurant seats 120 guests, or alternatively can accommodate up to 220 standing guests for a stand up cocktail function.
What a great night out. Excellent food and service in an interesting bustling crowded restaurant. The waiting staff were very helpful in adjusting the sizes and selections we made from the menu to give us a tasty meal. The highlights among the selections were the Fava dip and the Sardines.

Atmosphere was relaxed and lovely. First course disappointing, we we told when served that the dish was new, “Forest Mushroom and Corn”. The bacon tasted incredibly salty and although full points for imagination, having popcorn in my entree was not okay. The Pork main meal however was one of the best I have tasted combining pork with stone fruit. The side - Duck fat roasted potatoes, garlic and sea salt was incredibly over salted and I love salt. No wonder ther was no salt on the tables. We had 2 desserts and although okay, werent that nice that we would want them again next time. The staff were attentive, however no one bothered to ask us how we found the meal like many restaurants do. Also I had been given a $200 voucher by work colleagues. We forgot to bring it with us. I thought they could look us up because the voucher was in my name and I had details of who gave it to me. I was told that the physical voucher was required. That doesn’t seem right or else what would stop someone presenting the same voucher multiple times so seemed very inflexible. If I didn’t have to go back to redeem the voucher I wouldn’t chose this restaurant personally try Juno and May in Camberwell, same atmosphere, better food.

Coburg's Post Office Hotel mixes the old with the new. A renovation in 2010 restored much of the old girl's original art deco features, breathing new life into the hotel. The team behind the bar provide an old fashioned warmth and hospitality and, with a background in music, ensure classic tunes are always part of the equation, from rocking live bands to a soundtrack of soul, rock and country vinyl. Take in the live music in the spacious front bar on Thursday, Friday, Saturday evenings, while on Sundays bring the family for a relaxed weekly-changing winter roast or summer barbecue while checking out the afternoon band. Next door to the pub, at 229 Sydney Road, is the POH's newest addition, the Dining Hall. The large space has been given a modern makeover with exposed brick walls, fire place, hanging pendant lights and recycled timber tables. There's al fresco Seating on the back deck, several banquet tables perfect for groups, plus intimate booths with leather banquettes.
Unreserved we got a table late on a Friday. Food was to die for!!! Chicken wings, halumi salad and fish. Service seemed like a family feel and was awesome. Atmosphere terrible bad acoustics so we were all yelling which meant tend of people doing the same. We got seated in front of the garden bar door and we were lightly dressed so we froze. I kept shutting door but staff just opened it again to ease their service . But yes amazing food

Great food (but coffee was much better when the owner and a couple of girls would make it - he soon became very busy and took on new staff - the guys that make it now have ruined it) Food still awesome and reasonably priced, love their pizzas the most. Even though people can be hanging out the door it still doesn't take too long to get your order.... but good luck getting a table!
