The first impression is not always the one that lasts! When going in the Post Office bar looks a bit simple and uninteresting, but going out into the garden the feeling changes to the better. When looking at the menu the first impression is that this is a local bar trying to do everything (normally with quite poor results). We were wrong! We had a really nice dinner in the garden, with truly well cooked food, lots of beer and nice company from the locals.

One of the best cafes I have ever been to, generous servings and a great selection of food, I will let the photos speak for themselves. Only one criticism, I ordered a salmon bagel with cream cheese, it was sitting in the cabinet and looked delicious and it came out toasted which I hadn't asked for :( Other than that the rest of our lunches were fantastic.

A night in Clyde before starting the Otago Central Rail Trail. Booked here for dinner (bookings are recommended for most places to make sure they can feed you) - we were slightly perturbed to show up with two kids in tow to discover the bistro was in darkness. Went into the pub properties, the only meals on offer were dodgy pizzas and more dodgy burgers. Opted for 2 pizzas (why the BBQ sauce on everything!) because the kids would eat those. Were vaguely OK, but not particularly good - we're just really glad we had a big, late lunch at the little cafe/takeaway earlier. While I acknowledge they were probably having a bad day, there's not really anywhere else to go for food vaguely suitable for kids in Clyde at no notice. This was certainly the worst pub meal we had (of lots) in New Zealand on our recent trip. My advice: try the Post Office Cafe instead. We wish we had.

The Bank Cafe offers excellent coffee and is open earlier than other cafes in Clyde so great for an early morning start. There is a good range of counter food. Staff are very friendly and welcoming.

We dined with friends for lunch on a gorgeously sunny day.
Our table was outdoors under a magnificently shady tree, in a marvellous woodlandish setting.
The food was DIVINE (fresh and tasty) !! Service - TERRIFIC
My husband's pavlova choice for dessert was INCREDIBLE !! ENORMOUS portion and delicious !! He was THRILLED !!
We drove to the restaurant - you can not walk there from town - it is simply too far. But many people bike there.
Well worth the trip no matter what your mode of transport

Booked here for Valentines Day and were well rewarded. Great food, good attentive service and the house beer is a good brew too. Well restored heritage building that has been sensitively upgraded and fitted out. Some air-con wouldn't have gone amiss as it was the tail end of a hot Central Otago Day, however we finished off outside in the street side courtyard. A great experience and would definitely go back.

Our specialist baking team starts early each day to bake the goods for the cafe and produ
Good food, good service. Everything you could expect from a cafe. Could have perhaps had a greater variety of lunch food, but it was quality.Very handy to the artisan precinct where you can browse for ages.

The perfect blend of New Zealand and international wholesome food to share. Paulina's Restaurant is located beside the local cinema in central Clyde and prepares honest and unique dishes from Chef Paulina. Share with your family and friends a relaxing lunch or dinner at our classic renovated restaurant.
This is my second time back at Paulina's; I enjoyed it thoroughly the first visit and thought I'd try my luck again. I wasn't disappointed: The waiter promptly took our orders which were promptly delivered despite the restaurant being very busy (there were about 3 events on in Alex and the greater Otago area). The food was amazing (like the sauce on the meat was 'I-wanna-lick-my-plate' superb) and the pisco sour cocktails were just how I remember them is South America - spot on guys! Can't wait for my next visit here, it's truly a destination with the cinema next door and a great outdoor Seating area. A credit to Clyde!
