We kept seeing Mary Brown's restaurants and decided to give it a try. The menu at this restaurant is chicken and potatoes or chicken and potatoes (with a few sides like mac/cheese or coleslaw). The coating on the chicken was tasty; however, it was a little greasy. The coleslaw was ok. The service was fast an friendly. It was not expensive.

I never write reviews for chain restaurants but there aren't many options for people traveling down the highways and needing a quick stop.
The lunch buffet is a fantastic deal - pizza, soup, salads (several kinds), even dessert - and for an unbelievable price. I am a vegetarian and was able to find many options that worked for me.
It was a very pleasant stop on a cold, rainy day.

My husband and I decided to eat here after Reading quite a few positive reviews. Really glad we ate at Rods. Upon entering we were seated almost immediately even with the restaurant being fairly busy. Service was great. Our server suggested a couple of things on the menu. I had the one piece fish and chips and my husband had the scallops. Both meals were delicious and inexpensive. We would eat here again.

Had 3 choices for Pizza Delivery; I chose wrong...very wrong. Terrible wings; soggy rubber erasers. Pizza was inedible; mind you the crows had a go at it when I tossed the entire pizza off my hotel balcony into the parking lot. Cheesy bread was more like a spare bicycle inner tube. Sour meat, wretched sauce that keeps coming back to haunt and rubber....no...latex cheese like substance on top. The only thing that was good was the Delivery driver was an excellent guy with a great attitude. Go to Grecco....

Specializes in local Newfie food, awesome homemade seafood chowder. Owners - Craig and Judy Stead, Phone (709) 466-6500.
OK...my boyfriend enjoyed his hot roast beef dinner. As my mine...not so much. I ordered the scallop and shrimp combo ($13.95ish)...all deep fried, of course. Tiny shrimp and batter on both just tasted like grease. That was especially too bad because I think the scallops were actually good. Perhaps some seafood sauce would have made thongs taste better, but no they didn't have any...and apparently never have it. If you serve seafood, wouldn't you have seafood sauce? I offered to make my own if the waitress would be kind enough to bring catsup and horseradish... Oops, no horseradish either! I guess that's why none was served with the boyfriend's roast beef dinner. So as a substitute, I was given what tasted pretty much like thousand island dressing...it was better than nothing to help cover the taste. Needless to say, I won't return if I'm ever in the Clarenville area again.

Nice spot to stop for lunch. Nice Views of the Clarenville Harbour area. Restaurant located in the Hotel. Staff very friendly, clean and prices were reasonable. I ordered the toasted tomato and Bacon Sandwich and had to ask for more tomato and lettuce. Scrimped on that badly, but was tasty. Other meal was a Clubhouse and was good....

As with all don cherry's consistency is paramount. And this place is consistently good. Service, ambiance, food quality. It's almost like McDonald's.
So why choose this one, because it was pouring rain and we needed a decent place to eat between Bonavista and gander, on the transcanada.
Try the seafood when in Roma, only negative being price. It is expensive for what you get. But better than eating fish and chips and chicken strips and drums at every pit stop.

This restaurant is located in the St. Jude Hotel which is situated on the highway outside of Clarenville. There is no trouble parking here. The restaurant is located right at the entrance to the hotel so it is conveniently placed for drop-in customers. We stayed at the hotel as part of a large tour group so appreciated having a restaurant within the building. We ate dinner and breakfast at the hotel - both buffets.
Our dinner buffet was in a separate area from the Dustabelle restaurant, but the food came out of the same kitchen. We were surprised to see the staff had gone to the trouble to prepare a big bowl of fruit punch for us and booked a young local female singer to entertain us for 1/2 hour prior to the meal. The hot foods included mussels which was a surprise food item while the chicken breast, well done roast beef, and vegetables were expected. The raspberry salad dressing on the salad was delicious as were the warm buns - another special touch. Desserts were bite size which suited me - brownies, carrot cake, and Nanaimo bars. The staff had covered the tables set for 6 with white tablecloths so again a special touch.
We ate our breakfast in Dustabelle's. It was a buffet breakfast with the expected juices, diced fresh fruit, breakfast meats, potatoes, breads/pastries, cold cereals (no hot oatmeal), and quiche. The casual eating area is clean, bright with lots of windows and looks cozy with a large fireplace as a focal point. Menu selections for dinner included chicken for $18 while soup was $6.
At Dustabelles, food prices seemed reasonable, the food was good even though we just experienced their buffet foods, and the casual dining area was pleasant.

Our first visit here, certainly not our last! We enjoyed a beautiful evening meal here. Roast beef dinner was delicious, and the toutons and home made baked beans hit the spot. Our servers were very friendly and courteous. We loved the "touton sticks" that came as a free appetizer. The restaurant is cozy and just a perfect size for an intimate dining experience without the noise. No TVs here! Nicely decorated. Can accommodate small groups for private dining. Highly recommend.
