A very romantic restaurant like in a cellar in the rock, nice decorated, felted atmosphere,
for a perfect evening and a delicious menus; excellent antipasti, and pastas with vongoli (mussels), very good meat, roast or lamb, celebrated with a good wine and at last for gourmets, a great dessert. Il Piccolo restaurant, is to recommend.

We arrived with fourteen people and no reservation at this seemingly tiny restaurant in a tiny town noted for its special, mellow cheese, aged and guarded from marauders for centuries in caves. No problem. We were welcomed, and walking over a clear glass panel showing the cheeses down below, we followed our host down three flights of stairs to a beautiful dining room, set in what seemed like a private wine room, all set and ready. We ordered the tasting menu (with three people being vegetarians, and receiving some variations on the main offerings). They did not blink an eye. Instead, course after course came out with wines, aperitifs and bread. First were fried cheese puffs, next was a kind of flan, almost with a meringue consistency of the famous cheese. Two kinds of pasta, veal, chicken, and more came - course after course - topped off with dessert and then limoncello. We were there for three hours - laughing, eating, drinking - the true Italian experience. It was a night we will all cherish for a long time. And reasonably priced for the feast we had - around $60 a person. Phenomenal. I would drive a long way again to eat there. Could not recommend more highly. Only regret is that I didn't buy cheese to take away before our dinner; after dinner the small store was closed. Fabulous food!

Don't you tire as a traveller of looking at menus 2+ times and day and having to decide on what to eat especially when the menu is not in your language?
Enter Trattoria del Lago. Dont let the middle of nowhere location and the casual decor fool you, as an Italian, I feel confident is saying that this is an authentic Trattoria.
First, like any good Trattoria, it's a family affair with mom and sister in the kitchen and son and what looks like his spouse in the dining room. The whole family was very warm and inviting and the mother even stayed later to cook for us even through we rolled in at 3:00pm
There was no ordering from a menu, they just brought us food. Such a simple concept, it was just the right portion size and it was delicious, from the pasta, to the rabbit, to the lightly sauteed vegetables, to the flan-style dessert.
My 10 year old son thought it was the best meal we had it Italy (AND WE ATE AT THE TERRAZZA DANIELI in Venice the night before!)
Don't hesitate to stop in for a visit

Great place, even greater waitor with a taste for eco - bio - wine. We drank to bottles of his recommendation, and the wine we got was amazing, even fitting the food perfectly. 20Euro for each bottle - a warp!
Food goes with out saying. We ate well and enough, and this was probably on of the best meals we had this 2 week long trip to Italy.
Truffles, crepes with ricotta, parmasan, pigeon. Everything local. Well, this menu for 55 euros, thats just to good to be true. If you find your self near Pennabilli, please take your time to visit Il Pianstrino.
The only negative I can say is that it was almost empty due to "offseason".
Ciao.

We were fortunate to book a table outside, looking up to the square, when the lights came on it was just a lovely setting. Staff were very friendly and their English was very good when explaining the menu. Shared the crostini plate for starters, it was great to be able to taste such a range of toppings all delicious. Then had pastas for main, one wild boar ragu and the other beef, again delicious.

the thing I love about Italian restaurants is that the table is yours for the evening. no being rushed to finish so the next reservation can be seated. This was an experience I didn't want to end! we shared five appetizers and each of them was fresh, original and delicious. Then we had a pasta course, again fresh and delicious. The waiter (Adrian) was attentive without being intrusive and the owner, Francesco, stopped by our table several times to make sure we were enjoying the meal. Our main course was a beautiful slow roasted pork dish with potatoes and apples. Seasoned perfectly and incredibly tender. The wine was suggested by Francesco and perfectly paired. All of this was followed by a light dessert. We spent 3 hours enjoying this fabulous meal. The setting was beautiful as well. perfect lighting and a great story, with the restaurant being placed under a scenic bridge. I would highly recommend this restaurant for a special dining experience.

This is a little gem, hidden in the hills outside Sansepolcro. I loved the warm family welcome from the owner, who looks a little like Paul Newman!! Lunch is very traditional and the courses seem to keep coming, lots of crostini, pasta and wine! I would definitively go there again.

A great local agriturisimo near Mercatello - we have been intending to have a meal here for three years and are so pleased that we have and indeed we will do so again! The value for money was fantastic and the quality of the meal and service was great. Local ecialities - pasta, antipasti, roast rabbit, mascarpone .... Excellent.

Either you book a table in advance or you come early (or very late), otherwise it’s almost not possible to get a table. Despite the fact that the restaurant was booked out we didn’t have to wait long for the dishes to be served. The waiters are all very quick and attentive. We can recommend the tasty three course menu with a delicious dessert (a piece of their huge cakes you can admire in the fridge) at the end. The bill was rather low, compared to the amount of what we drank and ate. Satisfied of this delicious dinner we gave a generous tip (20%).
