On the way from Cihideung Lembang to Bandung via Cimahi. We were starving and do not expect to find this place. Kupu Kupu is a resto in a two floor building, with extended area to a semi outdoor large tent. The café is decorated with ponds, garden and book shelves. You can pick an interesting book to read while dining or café-ing there. Place is crowded, mostly with local people from Cimahi town. Menu is extensive, from steak to Italian to Indonesian to Japanese food. Price is affordable and quantity is rather small.
We ordered lots of food but until an hour none comes. I called the waiter and it turned out that the printer was jammed and our orders were not printed in the kitchen. So we have to wait for another hour before the food came. After devastating with starvation, all food taste good.
Contrary to reviews in TA, this place has no views. Even at the second floor, the view is the neighborhood.

If you are looking for Sundanese food in Subang, this restaurant could be an option. They serve cheap Sundanese food with plenty variants. However, if you compare to restaurants in other cities, you will find all food less delicious as others. Most recommended food would be fried chicken.

I visited this restaurant for many times. Always stop by every time i am going from Jakarta to Bandung. The chicken is delicious and the chilly is very very hot. Every dish is fried, except vegetables. Affordable price and big parking space. Variant menu such fried tofu, friid fish, pepes fish, lalap, etc. I recommended reataurant to visit when you stop in this rest area.

3 levels of spiciness for your choice. But the price become ridiculous since it was visited by Manpower Minister. Located at small street so no parking lot available.

Got here by accident, we are lost somewhere trying looking for a shortcut from Bandung to Jakarta, then we found this place. It's packed but we still got seat.
Sundanese food - tasty, complete and very very affordable. Turns out they also have branch in Jakarta.
Very recommended

The Food here is excellent. Do not even doubt the food. Alot of western and japanese expatriates eat here. The food is so good that they usually sold out before lunch during the weekends. Try the Pepes and Crispy Shrimp.

We visited this restaurant for dinner. All other customers were japanese (looked like it). The food was authentic. Overall was good. Price was standard japanese restaurant. The hot ocha was roasted tea, which was nice. Free desert was much appreciated by my children.
The downside : the salmon teriyaki was a little bit dry.
We may visit this place much more often if only they open on sunday. A perfect dinner place on the way back to Jakarta from Bandung on the weekend.

When it comes to Japanese restaurants in Indonesia, you are faced to two extreme choices. Good service and good taste but not good for the pocket or the more wallet-friendly place but you can expect either bad service or mediocre to bad quality food. It makes no wonder how surprised I was to find that the perfect Japanese restaurant that offers taste and affordability is not located in the capital city, Jakarta, but in Cikarang, a place people rarely associate with good food. Thanks to the number of Japanese expats in Cikarang, Matsuriya is there for a simple reason, to make you happy with good food and cheap price. Only with 100.000 IDR you can get a dinner set with sushi, main dish, salad, appetizer, juice, miso soup and side dish such as chawanmushi and we're not talking about Indonesian-adapted Japanese food either. What you get here is the real deal Japanese food you can expect to find in places like Tokyo and Kyoto! Service is good with nicely decorated setting. Some people complain that the place is too small (although there are two available restaurants standing across one another but during dinner or lunch time, even two restaurants are not enough!) but in my personal opinion, it adds to the charm because it reminds me of those typical Japanese izakaya. You better book beforehand if you want to come in a large group though. My personal recommendation is the butabara, grilled skewered pork belly that is only 8000 IDR per piece. An ideal place for a meal with friends, family, or even for a solo visit, I have to say that Matsuriya is the best Japanese restaurant in Indonesia or, if I dare to say it, even in the world.
