Spillanes is a long established family- run, family friendly, Bar - Restaurant on the scenic Maharees Peninsula. They have been awarded the prestige of the Seafood Circle Award for several years as well as a listing in the Georgina Campbell Guide to the best of Ireland. Spillanes menu offers a wide range of dishes with the emphasis on local seafood, fresh vegetables grown locally in season,Wonderful Irish beef , typical Irish traditional fare, as well as daily specials, Pizzas, homemade burgers and homemade desserts, a good wine list and friendly staff. There are sea and mountain views and outdoor tables for dining when weather permits. During the busy summer season it is advisable to book your table in advance, although Spillanes will try to fit you in if at all possible.
Like many people who holiday in Castlegregory I have eaten many times in Spillanes.I have always found the food and service to be fine if a little overpriced for food served in a bar setting.I recently had a meal there with a group of 9 family and friends. We were told at the start that 2 items on the specials were finished. This was at 8 o'clock on a Tuesday evening. One of the dishes was the Spillanes signature dish of cod in beer batter and chips. Not a great start! We ordered and waited for our food to arrive. Then we waited some more.Eventually a waitress arrived and told us that there was a problem with the printer and that we would have to re order. In the meantime some of the food we ordered was now off so some of us had to choose yet again.Again we waited.Eventually some of us after much discussion said we were going to leave. The person who had made the booking asked us to wait while he approached the manageress. It was now an hour since we had put in our original order. Our friend had to suggest, there was no sign of a gesture from Spillanes, that to avoid further awkwardness and to prevent a walkout perhaps some drinks might be in order. They provide drinks for the table. This was the least they could have done and should have made some gesture without my friend having to approach them.I know one negative experience will not worry Spillanes but I hope it was just an unfortunate glitch and not an indication that they don't need to act when customers are not having a good experience with them.Resting on laurels is never a good thing in any business!

Historic public house, named by the Antarctic explorer Tom CreanTom sail to the Antarctic three times under the command of Captain Robert Scott and Sir Ernest Shackleton and received the Albert medal for bravery on Captain Scotts ill fated Terra Nova expedition.Tom retired from the Royal Navy and ran the pub until his death in 1938.
The South Pole Inn is a must for Antarctic fans- the original owner Tom Crean made 3 expeditions to the South Pole- great history on the walls and the toasted sandwiches were plentiful and delicious- fresh hot soup also very good- and a lovely pint of Guinness - a great stop on the way to or from Dingle

We were a party of eight. Food was very good and we particularly enjoyed sampling the sea shore vegetables which the chef had foraged. I understand that the building is old but our enjoyment of the evening was seriously spoiled by the petrifying draughts whipping through the ground floor. One of the men kept his coat on, another borrowed his wife's scarf and the pictures in the windows came in handy to block the cold at our backs. Would give it one more chance to see if the area upstairs was any warmer. Definitely taking an overcoat though, even in summer.

We had dinner here after a days walk (the Dingle Way). We didn't have Reservations, bur, although it was really busy (which I consider a good sign) they could accommodate us. The food (Salmon with mash and vegetables; Linguini with king prawns and salad) was excellent and reasonably priced. This is not a pub but a real restaurant with professionals who know how to cook a good meal.

Ned Natterjacks is a Family run Gastro Pub, with a great menu of delicious food options and daily specials. All the food is fresh and locally sourced. Natterjacks also known as Ned's is the oldest pub in Castlegregory Village, it has a lovely old world feel and ambieance. Live music features regularly and there is a covered and open beer garden. Great Craic! Food and Music in friendly surroundings is our motto! and we can't wait to meet you!
This is a fun place with a homey atmosphere, especially with the warm, glowing fireplace. They have a great selection of dishes from slow-smoked ribs to roast lamb. Be sure to check the board for daily specials. I highly recommend the fish and chips. The lamb burgers are also first-rate. Pop in on a Sunday evening for live music. You may even here some of the locals share a tune or two.

They were busy the night we went and they probably always are. The food was nothing to write home about and the service was quite slow. Nevertheless if you're hungry and want a meal this pub is convenient to people staying in Camp or Camp junction and reasonable value.

As other people have said there is a strange mixture of European and Asian dishes on the menu. The European dishes are typical pub grub. My wife had linguine with prawns which she said was good. I had hake and chips but the batter was soggyand the fish was in small pieces rather that one piece of fish. They say they specialise in seafood but there aren't many choices on the normal menu. There is a specials board which has mor fish choices.
