I've been twice and had some German inspired meals. After eating meat cooked pretty much the same way in every restaurant with out any kind of season, this place was a treat to my palate. Kalbsbratwurst mit Zwiebelnsauce und Rösti, Holzfällersteak and Schweinekotelette “Schwarzwald” were my favorites so far and I always finished with Apfelstrudel and coffee. It is a bit off the beaten path (By 800 meters) in an area called "Paradisio Suizo". While they offer small bungalos, I have never stayed there.

Besides the fact that you can come to have a guided tour throughout the winery, vineyards, wine cellar and a classic car museum you can also have wine tastings and lunch. We think that the best food is usually the simple food made with high quality ingredients is the best. Our speciality are the grilled meats but do not hesitate to try our more elaborated dishes. We recommend if you are paying us a visit to do it chill, not in a hurry so you can enjoy your staying the best.
Nice place very well organized. With a quick visit to the wine property. Then we did the tasting of the wines produced by them and then the lunch. Closed menu with hot or cold starter option, main course and dessert.Coffee or tea to finish. We are peschaterian and found a vegetarian option too.

Nice family venue on the beach front of Costa Azul, a small and nice seaside resort some 50km to East of Montevideo. The place is neat, clean and tidy and the food is good. Traditional Uruguayan cuisine, good food for the money. The place is not expensive and the service is very good too.
Nothing fancy, highlights being the view, the tidiness of the place, very decent food and cheap.
We went with my family on a Sunday for lunch and the place was packed mainly by locals.

After a tour of Montevideo, we were brought to this winery for a wonderful grilled meal, many different meats and a huge selection of salads and vegetables. Wish i could have had a doggie bag. We sampled their wines and took back several to our cruise ship. Very good and a great price.

From our kitchen come wrapped and those scents that bring to mind, with the help of innovation, dishes that are part of our life history, our culture. Rescuing lost, the discovery of new and encounter with organic and artisanal producers native flavors, we have gone, to value the flavors of our land.
While shopping for organic produce at Isla Verde, the owners recommended we try Arazá Bistró in Cuchilla Alta, who also purchased organics from Isla Verde. We made a booking for Valentines Day.
Cuchilla Alta is not big, even when swollen by summer tourists. We were not expecting to find the large, beautifully designed, functional, attractive building that houses this restaurant.
The menu last night featured three starters – Buñuelos de Algas (seaweed), Tamales de Choclo con Manteca de Coco (corn patties cooked in banana leaves with buttery coconut topping), and Higos Caramelizados Relleno de Queso Azul (caramelized figs stuffed with blue cheese). We chose the latter two and they were scrumptious, although the fig dish was definitely bigger and prettier than the corn dish.
There were six main course offerings last night and we did not choose: the shark in banana leaf with curried rice; ñoquis of goat cheese; goat flank steak with puré; or, lentil croquettes.
Gundy chose Carne de Jabali a la Piedra con salsa de cocción, sal volcánica, chutney de arazá amarillo y durazno, y croquetas de papa. This is wild boar served on a hot rock, with cooking sauces, volcanic salt, yellow arazá and peach chutney, and potato croquettes. She enjoyed every delectable bite.
I chose Pollo de Campo Arrollado con Arroz Cremoso al Tandory con Ocras Picantes a la Plancha. This is grilled free range chicken breasts rolled around seasonings served with creamy Tandori style rice and spicy ocras. Fabulous! This is real chicken.
Our server suggest a liter of a fruit drink made from more arazá berries and other fruits and we accepted what turned out to be a delicious, refreshing summery beverage. We also ordered a bottle of Traverso Tannat Roble 2012, from an impressive list of craft beers and excellent wines.
Gundy´s dessert was Omelette Surprise de Sorbet Arazá con Salsa de Chocolate and mine was Postre Chaja Helado. Wonderful finish to a great evening.
Everything about this restaurant was exceptional. After the meal we were presented with a small gift, two Valentines muffins to take home. We are only sad the restaurant will close in two weeks and we cannot return before then. However, they are hoping to reopen in a Montevideo location in April. If you cannot go for a meal before the end of the month, you will have to, like us, wait for a future announcement on Facebook.

Been here several times (Lunch & Dinner) I have had other items here that were always good but I liked the steak here best, asked for rare (muy muy jugosa; but there's always been English-speaking waiters) and got it. Some places give you medium rare or medium even though I ask for rare. Our friends liked it too.
Reasonable prices. When the weather's nice, great to sit out on the sidewalk under a big umbrella. Very popular place with the locals and right on the busier square. The only thing to watch out for is how big the portions are. My solution is to split something if anyone is willing and then I probably will have room for dessert!

A great roadside traditional spot on ruta 8 between Soca & ruta 9 junction. We have been twice and food was very good each time. The bread/crackers are fantastic.
One caution for USA folks (or others who are not used to late dinners yet) is that Mon-FRI they may reopen for dinner between 8 or 8:30 PM in the evening; Sat/Sun they close at 5PM according to their Facebook listing.
