Rustic little ‘shack’ type restaurant. Really reasonable prices for fresh, tasty, local grub! Nothing fancy, it does what it says on the tin.
There’s a large barbecue pit where the meat is cooked, and we really enjoyed it. As per everywhere in Costa Rica (it seems), the meals are huge and we shared the ‘half chicken’ meal between two - more than enough!
The staff are super friendly and accommodating.
It’s worth a visit if you’re staying in the area for a few days and fancy a reliably good meal.

The setting on the beach front is beautiful. However everything else was disappointing. Service was erratic at best. We had to ask 5 times to 3 different people to get a beer when we arrived.
The menu is promising - however sadly it doesn't live up to expectation. We had the dorado carpacio style to start, which was nice enough, and the home made bread is very good.
For mains we had the chilli relleno and the tortello of lobster and broccoli. Both were very disappointing - and tiny portions served with no sides at all. The chilli relleno was stuffed with potato which tasted a bit strange - and ok we didn't expect it to come piled with sides Mexican style but something would have been nice! The lobster tortello is basically a pastry/empanada. It was over-cooked and tasted more like salmon than lobster. It was also very small for a main course when served without side dishes. If it wasn't for the bread we would've left hungry - and one of us is definitely not a big eater!!
The wine was also terrible. The only option is a glass or carafe of house- it was the most expensive we had in Montezuma and the worst tasting by far. Normally we would order a second but not here!
So overall very disappointing. Would be nice for an early evening drink.

Place came highly recommended but our meal was just okay. I had the seafood spaghetti and all of the seafood was overcooked and pretty tasteless. The staff were great and the service was excellent--just wasn't thrilled with the food. And seemed just a little spendy for what we got.

Our restaurant Brisas del Mar is rated as one of the finest restaurants of all Santa Teresa and Mal Pais. Cosy and friendly atmosphere await for you with amazing international dishes that can only be outraged by the incredible ocean view... Open to the general public with ever-changing menu using the freshest local ingredients. The best Cockteleria withe the best ocean view under a sky full of stars... we welcome Large groups, Romance, Local cuisine, Special occasions!! Open for Breakfast/ Dinner, Reservation.
My boyfriend and I went here for dinner one evening in the midst of a downpour and the staff couldn't have been more friendly and accommodating. The power went out several times throughout dinner and the food was a bit slower than normal. In response the staff made us a small appetizer and gave free drinks and were constantly bringing us candles and checking in on us. The view is incredible and looks out over all of Santa Theresa, super romantic if you are looking for a date night (there are even large couches to sit on overlooking the ocean). The fish was super tasty and the tuna amazing. Overall, this was my favorite meal in Santa Theresa on so many levels and highly recommend it.

We stayed at moana lodge for 3 nights, papaya lounge is the hotel restaurant.
The first night we had dinner at the restaurant, the ocean views are amazing (high climb to the restaurant but 100% worth it!).
The frensh bartender makes delicious cocktails and does a great job!
Happy hour is from 4 till 6 perfect for watching the sunset!
The food is oké, but little pricy, its a tapas concept so you can taste a lot of everything.
Some or better then others, we loved the fresh calamari with home made sauce.
The food itself was overall too salty. I self use a lot of salt while cooking at home, but the food in papaya lounge was really toooo much salted. Otherwise the dishes were perfect!
The 2nd and 3th night of our stay the restaurant was closed, which was not so pleasant while we had no transportation. I couldn't understand because breakfast was served in the morning! it couldn't be that hard to make something for a few couples, if you can bake eggs in the morning you can improvise a little menu too!
We enjoyed the food in town more, and for the same money you get better food!
For cocktails tough its 100% recommended !

Puggo's Restuarant is located just off the beach in the small town of Montezuma. The owner is a world traveler who has found her home in Costa Rica. Her menu and its flavours are a direct reflection of her life experiences. From the fresh local fish to the slow cooked osobuco and moussaka, you can taste the love she has for her food. She uses a range of ingredients, from local organic chocolate to spices she brings directly from her home country of Israel. Puggo's also has a fresh sushi bar which specializes in a range of asian inspired dishes using locally caught fish and prepared right in front of your eyes. The atomsphere is friendly and relaxed and the multilingual staff is happy to recommend not only their favourite dishes but Beaches as well! .
I live near Montezuma, and since reviewing this restaurant 6 years ago, it has changed hands. The new owners have really taken the place in the right direction. The food is extremely good, especially their Mediterranean dishes (my favorite is the falafel with hummus). In addition to the Puggo's regular menu, in the evenings there is a sushi chef on site. I highly recommend the Maya Roll. As far as I know, they only serve house wine (red/white) & 2 kinds of premium beers plus soft drinks/juice.
The restaurant is in the center of Montezuma in a wooden hut-style building with really cool hanging lights. It definitely has a nice ambiance.

We’ve been staying in Santa Teresa for a week and only today stopped into The Bakery for breakfast. Wow it was awesome...French Toast, Pancakes with Coconut & Fresh Fruit, a killer Breakfast Burrito, but the best was the poached eggs over a sweet potato pancake...MoreWow, we feel humble to your kind words but are very pleased as well to hear you enjoyed your visits!

Our family dined at Ylang Ylang for breakfast and dinner for 3 days while we stayed at the resort. We also enjoyed lunch and app/drinks for happy hour as well. Best food in Montezuma and perhaps best from our whole Costa Rica experience. The setting is absolutely incredible - beautiful beach nearby, shade when its hot, open air to the sky when its not. Food was delicious, healthy and fresh. Cocktails were yummy too. Plenty of options for adults and kids. Staff was also incredible - especially Patricia! Can't say enough about Ylang x2!

We enjoyed an evening dining al fresco under the lights at Koji's. The menu is presented on a large chalkboard. The fish is fresh and very tasty. The grilled veggies were wonderful. We sampled a variety of sushi rolls and really enjoyed all the different flavor profiles and combinations. A wonderful dinner.

Located in the heart of Montezuma with a great outdoor patio. We serve vegetarian, vegan, sushi, pasta, chicken, fresh seafood and much much more...
We loved the garden area in back, although the river smell is nasty until you get used to it. We enjoyed the Namaste spring rolls and the chicken Sandwich. We went again and totally enjoyed the chicken burrito (lots of flavor without rice or a lot of beans). Then we enjoyed the happy salad with the shrimp and mussels fettuccine. All wonderful. They do not serve 'meat', only chicken and seafood. Friendly staff.
