Sol y Sombra is on Plaza de Armas, it's a small place with about 4 tables with doors made out of tin. This is one of those Peruvian places where there is only the "daily menu", consisting of a soup and a main dish, for about 5 PEN ($1.75). We walked in and there was Pokemon playing on the tv, and two other people in the restaurant. Kids were there watching the cartoons, while mom was fixing the lunch in the back.
The soup was quite tasty - typical Peruvian hearty potato soup, I forget the name. We were full after the soup. The main dish was iffy, alpaca with sauce and rice, but we were so full by then we didn't care. The tables were nice enough with the typical touristy tablecloths.
This is just your average hole-in-the-wall restaurant, nothing special, but if you don't mind a few flies and Pokemon, then you get a lot of food for very little money.

We stayed here during our Colca canyon trip.
Overall, the place has a nice 'traditional' feel to it. Very rustic.
The staff has been very helpful and friendly throughout the visit. In particular, when my wife suffered altitude sickness, they assisted her with oxygen and even delivered the dinner to the hotel room itself.
Food was excellent (grilled trout, ratatouille, soups, pancakes). Breakfast was nice.
Only downside, at least for the room we stayed in: no built in heaters (they provided a small electric heater.. But it's just not enough).

There are a limited number of restaurants in Cabanaconde and we walked into this restaurant which was very close to the place we were staying at. The food was limited with the fixed menu being reasonably priced. The place has a nice casual feel to it and the young lady who runs the restaurant was friendly and pleasant. We ate here twice and on each occasion felt that the service was good but the food was nothing to write home about.

La Granja del Colca is an ecological recreation in Cabanaconde very close to the viewpoint of the Cruz del Condor. It occupies a prominent part of the hill, which overlooks the vastness of the Colca canyon. Pets are bred like rabbits, sheep, cows and poultry. It is surrounded by terraces where potatoes, quinoa, beans and aromatic plants are grown and used to prepare beverages and food for visitors.
Food is delicious but nothing compare to the great views from the restaurant. We even saw a condor overflying the canyon!

Food was good, drinks as well, but so much advertised pizza was just good, I was expecting really awesome one but the dough was just regular as well as the topings. Anyway still worth to go and have a good time as the atmosphere is really nice especially when "David Coperfield" is playing on his guitar and singing. You will really enjoy their woodfire during the cold evenings and nights.

It is a new restaurant where we offer typical meals of the area with excellent dishes of exhibition, the Invite us to enjoy our local cuisine of the deepest canyon in the world
The hostel is very recent. The room was clean and quiet. The bed was comfortable and this was the best bathroom I used in Peru : well built, hot water and no stagnant water. The breakfast was standard : an egg, bread, jam and tea. All this for 50 soles. The mama holding the place was also very kind, always smiling. She kept one of our backpack for 3 days and also washed some clothes for 10 soles.
