Once or twice a year we eat out with friends who live in Brighouse. This year we agreed on Brooks. It is many years since we went there, but were warmly welcomed by the manager. It was pleasantly busy but not rushed.
We still like to eat fish on Fridays, and although the menu is quite small, there was plenty of fish. There was an extra item for starters, Whitby Crab. Lots of "meat" and very tasty. For the main course one of our friends had the lobser special which looked delicious. I had prawns in a chili sauce, spicy at my request and I was not disppointed. We ll enjoyed the Viognier from Languedoc, dry and crisp complementing the food. Service was excellent. Not cheap but such good food prepared by a chef is rarely cheap. Good value and a great night out.
I rarely classify as excellent! Lots of free parking on street outside & nearby.

We tried this place for lunch on a Wednesday. It was surprisingly busy and I can understand why. Interesting, tasty food, nice surroundings and a good atmosphere. I imagine it would be a nice place for a romantic dinner.
Our sharing platter starter seemed to have a bit too much dip and would have benefitted from more flatbread and things to "dip in". The service was a bit distracted - our original waiter disappeared (I assume he finished his shift) and we didn't feel all that well looked after, though service was not bad.
I can recommend the mixed kebabs, and would say we were lucky to get in as it quickly filled up - best to book.

Went to Pre go's for my birthday with a mixed party ranging from toddlers to OAP's. The service was second to none and such a friendly atmosphere, very welcoming and catered for all our needs. Food was excellent and very enjoyable and we were all happy with the experience we had. Will definitely use again.

This is the second time we've visited for Christmas lunch. The first was in 2015. Although we had a problem at the time with gluten free food(or it should have been) this was rectified and we enjoyed the meal. We decided to try again this year, after several phone calls and a visit, to ensure that one member of our party who is a coeliac had gluten free food.
Our first surprise was the look of the pub when we arrived. There was a Christmas tree in the corner but the rest of the place had just a few random bits of decoration. The pub has old beams and should have looked lovely. We spoke to a few people who said it didn't look very festive.
Anyway onwards we went to the dining room. We had nice seats so we're looking forward to a lovely meal. Then the STALE TOUGH bread rolls arrived. Nothing for a gluten free person so we had to ask. After about 5 minutes a very cold piece of bread arrived. We all left parts of it. Next the starter. My husband and daughter had the treacle salmon. My daughter ate hers and said it was not enjoyable but ok. My husband can usually eat anything but said it was awful. I felt safe as I had ordered the chicken consommé soup. It was disgusting. After being put off by the smell I took one mouthful and nearly spit it out. Apart from it being tepid it tasted dreadful. The waiter came to clear away and said nothing about the full dish of soup so I told him about it. He said he would have a word with chef and that's all we heard ..nothing else.
Main course came. We all had Turkey and expected it to be carved as you would get in a normal carvery but no, it was sliced, formed ,thick dark looking cheap cut Turkey. I left most of mine as it tasted awful. My husband and daughter managed about half each. Again when it was time to clear it away there was no comment from the waiter.
My husband then had cheese and biscuits again a very poor plateful but at least it was edible. I had Christmas pudding which was nice before I asked for some more sauce as it was a bit dry. I was brought some thin kind of strange tasting sauce which I used and ate it but not really enjoyed it. My daughter who is a coeliac had been made a clafoutis hopefully with gluten free flour. It came as a stodgy mess and we all had a taste as it tasted like uncooked batter. She mentioned it to the waiter again as she couldn't eat it. More of I'll speak to the chef and that was it
I asked for the bill and mentioned how we had disliked the food and felt as though we hadn't had a Christmas lunch. The waiter said ok and walked away. He came back and said he would take the price of one meal off the bill. No apology or anything.
We will never return again not even to the pub for a drink as they don't deserve our patronage.
I'd like to see the reply from management to this as looking at the other replies they dont care at all .
My suggestion is. (1) management try the food before it goes out. (2) change your chef.

Visited this Restaurant 3 times over the last few weeks. One occasion later in the evening and twice on the early diner - which is super value for money. The service cannot be faulted, and the food is just so tasty, The guy who takes your order, and appears to be in charge, is very helpful and pleasant. Well worth a visit.

We have visited before, and always enjoy La Cachette. Service is very prompt and efficient, and the food is always good. I particularly liked their "take" on Scotch Eggs - quail eggs wrapped in black pudding to accompany Belly Pork. One of my favourite restaurants in the UK

Visited this restaurant purely based on the trip advisor reviews - what a mistake.
Pleasant decor, staff did not seem particualrlt welcoming or attentive when we arrived, but restraurant is obviously popular with the locals, being pretty full all night, and most seemingly very friendly with the staff.
Extensive and good sounding menu. I ordered caprese to start - always a good solid choice I thought. What arrived was a very large plate (in all honesty too large a portion) of mozarella slices, thick slices of very large and not particularly ripe (therefore not too tasty) tomato slices, a few (and I mean a few) sprinkled herbs and some bland oil sprinkled on the top. Was this even olive oil? I don't know, it could have been anything, so bland and tasteless. Good quality olive oil should be a given in any Italian worth it's salt. Perhaps telling that the bread we were given came with butter to spread INSTEAD of olive oil???? Perhaps that says enough - tells you what the staff think of their oil !
For my main I ordered a King Prawn risotto from the specials board. In their favour this included a substantial serving of King Prawns - which in themselves were tasty. However the risooto included for some reason unknown to me slices of Italian suasage. In a King Prawn risotto??? The sausage, combined with undercooked pieces of courgette were not pleasant. But the biggest issue was that the risotto was swimming in oil. Unpleasant orange coloured oil, which totally ruined the taste of the risotto. An unpleasant dish.
In defence of the restauarnt my work colleague enjoyed his garlic mushroom starter and his lasagne (although the latter looked overcooked and burnt to me).
For desert I ordered a mango sorbet, which was very good.
An unpleasant meal overall -combined with slow and non friendly service. I would notchose to return.
