For my wife's birthday while visiting the island Oland, this restaurant impressed us in every way. Top quality menu, artistic presentation, knowledgeable wait staff and elegant setting makes this the best restaurant we found on the island.

Word is that this restaurant is one of the better restaurants in Borgholm. It's not.
This restaurant had really good service with fun and service-minded staff. Although I wasn't completely satisfied with the visit I left with a smile!
The food was OK but nothing more and it was slightly over-priced in my opinion.
The food is best described as typical Swedish pub food - which makes me wonder about how this restaurant can have such high status. I guess it boiles down to location. It's near the harbour but not as pricy as the restaurants located in the harbour.
I recommend this restaurant to the family that's on vacation and don't have too high demands on their food. The meny is child-friendly and even has a child-meny.
So in short:
I had a nice visit. Overrated. Slightly over-priced.

Found this in Lonely Planet Scandinavia guide. Went for Buffet lunch on a June Sunday. Waiter greeted us, showed us where to collect our plates and advised us to tuck in as much as we wanted, drinks included including beer on tap. Food was fine with a Chinese flavour, but not exclusively. Choice of conservatory or outdoor harbourside Seating. All for 140 SEK about £12. Loved it.

Seasonal menus. Our kitchen chef and his staff always tries their very best to keep the menu adapted to whatever is in season and buys as much as possible of the ingredients from the local producers- The Hotel has 41 rooms all in all at Halltorps Gästgiveri. - It´s no smoking area.- Dining rooms Seating up to 110 persons - Large bar- & lounge area - Wine cellar - Sun Terrace with a magnificent view over Kalmarsund - Recreational facility with two saunas and a cool well - Three conference rooms - Five open fireplaces - Excellent parking spaces
This is allegedly one of the very best places to eat in the region and I would agree. The setting is beautiful and the meal was first class. We had the tasting menu which is an unusual and interesting way of choosing a mixture of starters, mains and desserts and if you are interested in exploring the local cuisine is well worthwhile. They also offer a linked wine list such that you allow them to pair a wine (or beer/schnapps) with each course you have chosen. This was slightly less successful in my view and was also rather expensive, so I would give this bit a miss and choose some wine you know and like. This is an expensive restaurant (even allowing for Sweden, which is a expensive country) so be warned. But a great place for a special occasion

The small restaurant with the great cooking
This is actually in the same house as chef Jonas's family home. He's an internationally acclaimed chef who only uses locally produced food. He takes great care in planning extraordinary meals for each evening.
This is a place to eat slowly and really taste every bite. The service couldn't be better and the chef will come out to answer questions and check that everything's alright.
The wine selection was also very good.
We love this place. A visit a year is a must.

One of these tourist restaurants that have a very broad and comprehensive menu to suit all, families with children and older mixed pairs. In addition to self-serving distinguished restaurant to have live music in the garden and dashing staff! The food tastes good and is just the right size portions. Most popular seems to be their burgers, but they also have plenty of 'daily' as an alternative ... Location is central in the pedestrian zone and just five minutes from the port.

Nice small restaurant in cental Borgholm.
It has a really cosy backyard, take a table there if the weather allows it.
The menu was not huge but enough for me to have trouble to deside.
The food was good and the price level ok.
Finished the meal with an excellent espresso.

The beautiful sunset helped out to save the evening. We were served by two alternating waitresses, and somehow they managed to mess almost everything up.
We ended up with no starters and the first food (kid burger) was on the table more than one hour after we ordered. Of some reason the shrimps were left out from the cod dish without comment. When we asked we were told "we are out of shrimps, that happens". And THEN some sort of apology.
Well meaning staff (but not 100% professional), great friends and well tasting food made the evening a good reminiscence.

We had the kroppkakor, delicious and filling. Coffe acceptable. Cute building, a old local school. B&B available, but close to main road.
