Very good small restaurant which has additional catering for private parties upstairs these days.
It’s our favourite place to eat in the town as the chef consistently produces very flavoursome dishes which are well presented.
Bookings are generally required at weekends although if you’re early, as we were on our last visit, you may be lucky and get a table anyway.
A favourite starter for my wife is their Black Pudding, bacon & potato Salad but this time around it was me who opted for that and she had the soup of the day. Both were very good.
For the mains I had Ling wrapped in Bacon served with potatoes, green beans and a butter sauce - simple and satisfying. My wife had the Lamb Shank with a rosemary, redcurrant and mint gravy served with buttered cabbage, kale & bacon and root vegetable mash and despite the absence of mint flavour she enjoyed the dish in any case.
The highlight on this occasion unusually for us were the desserts. I had a Dark Chocolate Mousse with Chantilly cream, a cherry and some shortbread and my wife had a delicious Bakewell Tart with custard.
We washed it all down with a bottle of Chilean Sauvignon Blanc (£16.95) and with the restaurant’s policy of offering 3 courses for £21.95 pp (or £15.95 pp for 2 courses) and a £3 supplement for the lamb our bill came to just under £64 which we thought very reasonable.
Only one ladies and one gents toilet however these are maintained to a very high standard.
Staff are young and pleasant in our experience so all in all it makes for an enjoyable meal.

My husband & I decided to treat ourselves to a wee overnight stay in the Hotel. We had a package that included overnight stay, dinner with a bottle of wine and breakfast in the morning. From start to finish the staff couldn’t have been nicer....MoreThank you for your review. I will make sure your feedback is passed onto the team.

Dropped in just before 6
Nice atmosphere and appears well run ,menu pricing is difficult and it would appear you can easily pay £16.95 for a gammon steak ouch
I had burger and a starter £12.99 seemed ok apart from the fact the bun had not defrosted , which they did remedy and the next one was fine .
Will possibly return and hopefully they have address the menu pricing system .
Must be really difficult for those on tight budget to drop in or elderly . Never keen on unclear pricing especially in establishments selling alcohol? ’

Our first visit to Biggar and as the café was fairly full, assumed it was going to be a good choice and decided to give it a try for tea/coffee and cakes. Big mistake. Staff don't smile and look like they would rather be somewhere else. Sat at a table and were eventually asked for our order which was a latte, pot of Edinburgh tea and scone and butter etc. Tea came straight away. After a few minutes poured some and it was luke warm water and hardly any tea in the tea pot. Showed the waitress who pulled a face with a knowing look and walked away. Came back with a proper pot of tea and the latte. 15 minutes later the scone had not been served and we went to pay stating we didn't receive the scone. No apology or comment so we paid and left.
If this is the standard of service it's a wonder it is still open. Would not recommend to anyone but would recommend to the owners they train and supervise the inadequate staff.

Excellent food well presented Staff very accommodating, enjoyed an early dinner eating in the bar (so we could watch the match). I had the fish, the wife a steak pie, all good. Good beer and wine choice.

We popped in merely to look at this converted kirk and whilst we didn't eat, we were very impressed. They do morning coffee, lunch and afternoon tea. Everything is freshly made, baked on the premises and all at very reasonable prices. Bakery items looked most appetising. Staff - most of whom are volunteers - were very friendly and obliging - we bought a painting, one of many adorning the walls. One can dine in the main hall or in an extension overlooking the main street. Worth looking at their website for further info. An ideal place for a cuppa, snack or light lunch.

Biggar Flavour is a bakery providing hot and cold takeaway food, alongside award winning baking such as cakes, breads, scones. They also have a range of fresh, single portion ready meals.
We are moving to biggar shortly and have tried the most of the eateries there however today we popped into this little shop for a Sandwich and tea. Beautiful bread, well presented quality sandwiches all at half the price of very near pubs. Very much competition for the "coffee shop" rivalries across the road. This little shop was so welcoming, cheap and good quality. We will be back. Thank you for your hospitality.

Went in here for a breakfast. Several choices for cooked breakfasts but didn't go for the Biggar breakfast but the one below it. Everything was cooked to order and very nice; sausages looked like butcher's sausages and were a bit salty but very tasty. The place has a homely atmosphere and suggests home cooking with service to match. Busy place and worth the visit
