The name says it all: Belo Horizonte, or “beautiful horizon,” has stunning views of surrounding mountains. Built as a planned city about a century ago, its tree-lined streets are laid out in a tidy grid. Explore the modern Brazilian architecture of the Pampulha neighborhood, relax in Mangabeiras Park or indulge in some epic retail therapy. Refresh with a cachaça rum cocktail, or tuck into a sumptuous pile of meat at a traditional Brazilian barbecue restaurant.

A nice lovely place for comida mineira. Prices are higher than average but be careful with the size of the portions. They are HUGE.
If you want to try Cachaça, ask for one of the different packs. You can even try Anisio Santiago/Havana.
The place is lovely and with a great service.
Nice souvenir shop but prices are high.

We have been to Vecchio Sogno twice and both meals have been wonderful. This past visit 5 of us enjoyed an unforgettable Brazilian-Italian experience, featuring very good service, excellent food and wine, and their out-going and entertaining pianist. We love northern Italian food paired with northern Italian wine (in this case, a youngish Barbaresco) and we were not disappointed. Our French-Brazilian waiter did a very nice job, with a bit of assistance from the maitre d', walking us through the menu. Ivo Faria should be proud of his team - and his food. We had a diverse range of options and I hate to start listing how many I loved because that would force me to prioritize. Suffice it to say, that I think this might be my favorite restaurant in Brazil, so far. And in the end we spent some fun time with their pianist who entertained us for about 30 minutes after our wonderful meal.

We very much enjoy Belo Horizonte, one of the most interesting cities in Brazil and in a state renowned for its food. Taste Vin is a wonderful restaurant , located in an old house. It's a cozy restaurant, with Seating in a number of rooms. We made a reservation (a good idea, it's very popular) and went really for dinner (7:30). The restaurant has a great menu and an even greater wive list, one of the most extensive I've seen in Brazil. Be vey careful ordering wine if you don't speak Portuguese so that instead of getting a $50 a bottle you don't end up with a $500 bottle. We had an excellent Argentinian malbec. The specialities are clearly soufflés and my friends ordered a scuffle with smoked fish and cheese as well as one with thyme and goat cheese. Both loved their entrees but each was more than one could eat. My wife had a wonderful salad verde as a main course and I had quail cooked in a port sauce which was excellent. For dessert, a wonderful chocolate souffle and creme brûlée, both of which were great. Taste Vin is an excellent restaurant with good service, excellent food and good value for the money (if you like god food).

The meal was absolutely delicious ! We shared a meal made of eggplants/ Buffala and a pizza (possibility to select two pizzas and have half/half), it was delicious !
The cocktails are awesome as well and nothing can be criticized about the service :)
GO FOR IT !

I prepared the visit to this restaurant some weeks before. I booked a table for two using the contact form in their webpage, analyzed their menu and selected one of the best bottle of wines from my collection (a Douro 2011).
Note, they allow you to take your own wine. You pay “rolha” of 60 reais per bottle. I tend to do that since wines are extremely expensive in Brasil. Better to take my own win (bought in Portugal, Argentina, Uruguay, etc...) and have a great wine with great food, while the restaurant still make some profit (that’s their aim, right?).
When we arrived, we were greeted very professionally. We were given the choice of several tables. And immediately asked if we wanted them to prepare our wine.
Bottle given and we took our places in the table.
Then our waiter came, Jairo. Funny, caring, professional. What a great person to have on a restaurant team. Without doubts, he made our experience even greater.
But let’s go to the food... we started by sharing a tuna tartar with avocado ice cream. It was perfect! We enjoyed it with a 3 lemon caipirinha (she) and a citrus gin tonic (he). We took our time to enjoy it and without any pressure from the staff.
The we moved to the mains. Papada de Porco and Costela de Boi. The perfect selections to have with the Talentvs 2011 from the Douro valley, in Portugal.
The papada was absolutely fantastic. I love that cut of the pig. And this could have been the best I ever tried. My girlfriend loved the Costela de Boi. I have to admit that I’m not so found of that specific cut but it was perfectly prepared.
We were extremely satisfied with our choices. And the wine was perfect. Robust but smooth. Aged but still fresh. Powerful but humble enough to be a side of such an exquisite meal.
Then we shared the desert. A wonderful chocolate cake with caramel sauce. I have to advise that is extremely sweet so some people (like my girlfriend) may not like it so much. But I just loved it. It was perfect for sugar and chocolate and caramel lovers.
And the meal went smoothly. More than a meal, it was a lovely gastronomic experience. And yes, it was one of the best restaurants I have been. It lived to the expectations!
Last but not least, the price. Well, it’s not cheap. But quality has a price. And it was worth it.
Leo Paixão has created a wonderful restaurant, where you can enjoy a great meal.
Thanks a lot and for sure, we’ll be back soon!!!

Comida gostosa, atendimento caloroso, e lugar despretensioso. O unico ponto é que achei que q comida demorou muito, mas nada que estrague a experiencia.

In Belo Horizonte, unfortunately, almost all nice restaurants are in a small area of downtown (Lourdes and Sawassi), and the suburbs have to do with neighborhood eateries.
ANELLA has the quality and sophistication of a downtown restaurant, but is located in Santa Amelia, near Pampulha airport. What a positive surprise!
Great atmosphere, super staff, and last but not least - excellent Italian dishes. And we really appreciated the waiters suggestion that one main course for the two of us would be sufficient, as the servings are huge.
Highly recommended!

I am never tired of eating in this wonderful restaurant. The food is always delicious and looking nice. It's got a clean, sophisticated and welcoming atmosphere. The staff is friendly and, best of all, even after eating there many times, I had always liked the food.
If they keep the food quality I'll find it hard to find a better place!
Congratulations to the chef for keeping its high standards.

A pleasant place for lunch. Ancho de beef was our favourite. Wagyu ribs too fatty for me and beef de chorizo good to. Outstanding farofa and an incredible range of beers! Worth an afternoon on it in you are in BH. And be warned if you ask for your beef rare, it comes walking off the plate! Worth a look!
