Bardez is the name of a region and taluka in North Goa. The name is credited to the Brahmin immigrants who migrated to the Konkan via Magadha in Gangetic India from Āryāvarta, in the north-western part of the Indian sub-continent. Bardez or more properly Bara (twelve) desh (country) means "twelve countries" (or lands). The form "country" probably refers to clan territorial limits, or to the Brahmin comunidades, of which the twelve, in no particular order, are Aldona, Moira, Olaulim, Nachinola, Siolim, Anjuna, Candolim, Serula, Saligao, Sangolda, Assagao and Pomburpa

Despite the bizarre misspelt name - actually Cafe Chocolatti if googling it - this is a real breath of fresh air for breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea. Everything is fresh and tasty. The huge choice of homemade cakes and brownies are surely the best in North Goa and the smoothies and frozen drinks are very refreshing. Open Mon to Sat until about 7pm give it a try. Pure indulgence!

Amazing Amazing Food. Hidden Gem In Candolim - Right On The Beach. By The Lower Fort- End Shack
My husband and I ate dinner here one night to have a change from the expensive eateries at the Taj. The food at Tony's was probably better (lovely chicken tikka masala and chicken sizzler) at a fraction of the prize, we sat directly on the beach and Tony and his staff were very friendly. Would recommend!

Really liked this beach shack and it quickly became our favourite. The stretch of beach doesn’t get blighted by the hawkers like other areas and the owner Danesh and his staff do everything they can to make sure your holiday is relaxed and as cared for as they can. The beer is cold and reasonably cheap and the food is good. Wife was really pleased with the massages she received from the female staff, nearly an hours massage for a fiver and a bottle of Pepsi!

Himalaya restaurant and bar is a nice place to get some good food for a very reasonable price. It's not upmarket but has a very pleasant atmosphere. Toilets very clean. It is popular so best reserve a table in the evenings. Even locals will recommend it. We went several times and found all dishes freshly prepared and in particular the Tibetan specialities were very good.
