Bad Windsheim is a small historic town in Bavaria, Germany with a population of almost 12,000. It lies in the district Neustadt an der Aisch-Bad Windsheim, west of Nuremberg. In the Holy Roman Empire, Windsheim held the rank of Imperial City (until 1802). Since 1810 Windsheim is part of Bavaria. In 1961, it became a spa town and has since been called "Bad Windsheim".

I went to this restaurant based on another review. To be fair, I am still new to German cuisine. The service was above average, the gentleman was very forgiving of my poor German speaking skills. He also spoke English well enough to get us through the meal. I ordered a schnitzel. It was very good but I must be a little critical in that it was a little bit too salty. I never did see the restaurant's namesake pear tree but also probably wasn't able to ask intelligently. I would eat there again but I'm not in a hurry to get back.

This place has the best pumpkin soup ever made! Their menu is very traditional German dishes and just tasty. Decor inside restaurant is very quaint. I truly recommend this restaurant and hotel. Next to it it's the Brothous and their bread is the best!

Really good beer, and good traditional Frankish dishes, Would recommend as the place to go in the Bad Windsheim Alstadt for a good German meal.

We have been to this restaurant several times already so I was thinking about a review here.
The restaurant is located close to the city center and can be reached by foot. Parking directly in front of it might be a problem, however there are some parking spots as well as in the city center.. During summertime you can sit outside and have a beer in their beer garden behind the building.
Their menue is good, they have pizza, pasta, meat and fish dishes as well as starters and freshly made desserts. For a starter I can recommend their Bruschetta, as a dessert Panna Cotta. The menue is also in English for our valued American guests.
Prices are "human" I should say. We (2 persons) had a starter, a sparkling wine to it, main course, drinks and Schnapps and paid 36,- EUR.
Their service is oustanding, the guy who took our order could remember everything without writing it down (and we ordered everything at once from starter over the main course till our 5 drinks). They asked I they should bring the main course and the drinks. Very nice.
The main room (the smaller one) is nicely decorated with old things from a brewery or a distillery. Full of brass and copper things however far away from being tacky. The other room is the bigger one however not decorated like the main room. Still nice though. They also have a bowling alley as far as I know.
The only downturn we noticed during earlier visits is when it's crowded. Service is still good and they tell you that it is full and that most likely you have to wait. However the waiting time is so long then that it can not be tolerated. So my advice if you see it is very crowded: go somewhere else.
Still in my opinion this is the best Italian restaurant we have in Bad Windsheim and we have plenty. The owner sometimes goes from table to table and greets known guests and ask you for our opinion about the food. Nice detail.

I've been to this place quite a few times and it's always great. First, the ambiance is everything you'd hope for in a medieval era building - dark wood paneling, low ceilings, but warm atmosphere. If you look up in the ceiling, you can see really old medieval Art painted on the ceiling, barely still visible (the building was built sometime in the 1400s). The food is great traditional german food. I recommend the cordon blue or schnitzel, also the weinsuppe is a great appatizer. The staff speaks English and are very friendly. Enjoy!

Great food and I just like the people and the place. A little more expensive but what you pay in price is made up for by before and after free shots!! Love it!!!

In this gourmet restaurant, our guests are treated with the best in a charming atmosphere. The chefs team, guided by head chef Detlef Schmidt, uses only high quality products with partners that he works with for years. Fresh, seasonal food and a large wine variety is waiting for you.
This restaurant is a little on the upscale side, but with friendly service and great food. This was a family friendly restaurant (we saw children on two different trips). The staff speaks English really well and this restaurant appears to get a lot of international travelers.

Always great kitchen. My family looooves to go there. We usually get there at carp season, but also love the typical franconian food or brats with sauerkraut.

one of the rare places which have great food, friendly service in a fantastic setting since many many years.
The ambiance of a 300 years old restaurant building at the entrance of this great museum, a beergarten as relaxing and quite as they come, friendly staff, clean and well maintained facilities . . . whatever I do I can not find anything about the place I would not like . . . beside leaving after a good meal obviously.
Whoever comes to Bad Windsheim and does NOT try this gem . . .sorry for you mate, big mistake.
Come in November / December and book the goose in advance, you will never forget the experience
Come October - April, make sure you do have a fried Franconian carp
Come May - September, sit under the trees and have a nice steak with salad
With it . . . Franken Silvaner or home brewed beer
Enjoy
